This is really sad. Demitra was one of my favorite blues growing up. My prayers go out to friends and family members of the team.

I know Salei had a child born this past winter. Just really sad.

Just got an unpaid internship with the Sioux Falls Stampede here. They play in the USHL and have a few players in the NHL, including Thomas Vanek and Alex Goligoski. Gonna be doing media relations, possibly some player interviews.

My buddy worked for the ECHL, trying to break into the league. He really enjoyed it. Good luck man.

Apparently Ostapchuk's mom died of a heart attack when she heard the news....what can you even say about that. Just awful.

Loko was my favorite team to watch last year. The line of Galimov-Churilov-Kalyanin was arguably the best in the league last season.
Daniil Sobchenko and Yuri Urichev both were top line players for Russia at last year's WJC.

I wish I could watch the Traverse City games. Mostly sure that Adam and Kassian are going to average 9 goals a game.

As much as I want to flip out at the idea of trading either of them, the idea of Vanek on the left wing of Tampa's top line made my pants explode a bit. Offensively, he and Marty may have been outperformed by only Perry in the second half of last season.
And Myers doesn't make anything right now. We need to get going on his lifetime contract.

How are they going to be able to afford both Myers' contract and Ennis' in a few years? Get rid of Miller for Enroth?

10 million drops after this season in the contracts of Boyes, Hecht, and Gaustad. Replacements are already in line in Adam, Kassian, maybe Foligno.
Doesn't make our offseason any less ridiculous in giving Sekera a $10 million contract and long term Leino/Ehrhoff payment.
Myers and Ennis both need contracts after this season, by the way.

Wings are still sitting with roughly 6 million in cap space.
Any obvious candidates to be available at the trade deadline this year?

Ryan Malone from the Bolts maybe. Iginla I'd have to think, too, if the Flames suck again.

Iggy to the Wings would be awful.
I must say, I am so damn pumped for hockey. For those who don't know, I'm in Winnipeg, and damn will it be good to have a team again. Is this the year Evander Kane puts it all together consistently? Can Big Buff not eat his way to mediocrity? Will Bryan Little rebound? So many questions!! I just hope we can keep things interesting all season so that we have something to play for as we approach playoffs. I'll be at 15 of the 41 home games this season!

Wings really need to acquire a top talent player while they can.
When Lidstrom retires (likely at season's end), they'll have even more money to spend. Kronwall, Stuart, Holmstrom, Bertuzzi, Hudler all gonna be free agents.

RIP Galimov. Only hockey player to survive the Lokomotir Yaroslavl crash died due to complications from the burns covering 90% of his body.

McKenzie said there should be extensions soon for Tavares and Myers. Both of them are going to blow up this year.
