From what I understand, they can't sign until Friday, but they can agree to deals now. It's basically a verbal commitment.

Free agency has begun....but players cant officially sign until Friday. But we've already seen tons of players agree in principle to deals. There have also been a bunch of cuts...but these dont actually go into effect until Thursday.
But yeah, there is tons of FA action going on right now. Teams are free to talk to and negotiate with all unrestricted FAs. Trades can be worked out in principle as well.

Hearing the Jags are gonna get Paul Posluszny. Don't have a link, just the word amongst Penn State people.

I'll post this in here, too...just because he's my boy.
Dallas is looking to re-sign WR, Sam Hurd, but apparently he has received interest from several teams. Should be interesting to see how this develops. I could see myself being happy, regardless...since he's looking at a larger role either way, more than likely. Good for Sam.

He's played well his entire career, and then had a breakout season last year. I thought the deal was a bit much, but keeping him was and should have been the Panthers number one signing priority.

I won't disagree with anything you said, but I think the shock comes from the fact that this guy, entering his 5th year with 1 career double digit sack season, is now making more money than DeMarcus Ware.
That is a hell of a payday, and I'll be interested in seeing if he can keep up the production now that he'll be the unquestioned focal point of opposing blocking schemes.

A bit much is a bit of an understatement. There is no reason for him to be making more money than say, Demarcus Ware. But it is what it is.

I really think it is because Carolina has to reach 90% of the cap. I still hate that aspect of the CBA.

In 2009, the last year under the old CBA that still had a cap and floor, It was $112 million with a cap of $128 million...about 87.5% of the cap was the floor.
So it's not a huge leap from the past CBA. It's just that a large number of teams absolutely gutted themselves in terms of salary last year with no floor, far more than what would have gone over the cap had it still existed. So that many more now need to overpay in order to get back up to it.

They should have given them two years then. Made the number lower for year 1 and then 90% for year 2. I just think contracts will be so inflated because of this.

Yanda agreed to a 5 year 32 million dollar deal with baltimore.
I have seen sources saying we are 16 or 20 million under the cap so depending on your source we are now roughly 9.5 to 13.5 million under the cap. I hope we can get Ngata long term so his 12.5 million dollar franchise tag goes down. Say we can get him to 100 million a year we will have 12 or 16 million of room. That is enough to make a play at Sidney Rice or Johnathen Joseph. But I doubt Aso.

LB Paul Posluszny agrees to 6 year deal with the Jags. Bills fought hard to keep him. Hard for him to leave, but chance to play in a 4-3...

More details on the Charles Johnson deal.
They do make a good point that it's probably better that Johnson got this money than Newton, as it easily could have been without the rookie scale. So on that point, I'll concede that it isn't too bad of deal.
But damn, it's still a mind **** for Charles freaking Johnson to shoot up the list of richest defenders like that.

I think Carlos Rogers would be a great fit in Baltimore, physical good covering corner, sure he has the worst hands on gods green earth but the Ravens have smaller guys and ball hawks, they really need a solid corner like Carlos, then you could start Wilson if you retain him or Foxworth on the other side while Webb and Jimmy Smith develop.

how much would he cost though? I expect Wilson to ask for at least 4 million a year.

I'm puzzled by this move. Free is more of a LT and we have that in Donald Penn. Can he be a successful RT? I expected Tampa to go after Claboo from Atlanta. Not sure if this makes sense, but I trust Dominik.
