That'd be a nice signing; versatility to play either RG or RT and I remember him being pretty good in 2010. Not sure how serious his injury was though.

His brother is going to be better than him. Has more versatility too. If you miss out on him maybe the Bengals will get Mitchell in rd 2/3

Sounds like someone the Ravens could use as a backup at that LG & C spot. I'm not sure that Birk will last all season.

He's due to break his hip any day now. Dude is like 36. I bet we're paying him upwards of $3 mill a season too. Ugh. Haven't gotten contract details yet though, one can only hope.

The Ravens haven't really done anything but gotten older this offseason. They need a good draft this year - especially defense/o-line.

Yeah with Adam Snyder to the Tards, and Chilo Rachal a free agent, all we have is 2nd year player Daniel Kilgore @ RG.
I think we sign Schwartz, him being a California boy, i think gives the Niners the advantage.
He's also had previous visits with other teams.

Agreed, but the problem with the approach we've taken is that we've gotten older without identifying any potential replacements for the veterans. We've ignored FA and as such, we're left with a ton of needs that we simply don't have enough draft picks to fix. Shoring up this team is going to be too difficult. Ostensibly, we need help at LT, LG, C, WR, DE, OLB, ILB, CB, FS and SS either this season or next season. That's a hell of a lot of needs to fix just in the draft while still trying to make a SB run for guys like Ray and Ed. If we had actually done something other then **** the bed entirely in FA, we might have had a shot to find heirs for guys like Lewis, Reed, McKinnie, Birk, Boldin, Pollard, etc. Those are all starters who are over 30 (most between 33-35, actually) who we have no verifiable replacements for, considering we just lost both our future safety starters and our depth across the board is pretty much ****.

I'm glad the Ravens fourth round pick this year Lee Evans worked out so well for them. Great start to the draft already

If he just held onto ONE PASS....just that ONE PASS....it would be seen as the greatest use of a 4th round pick since Randy Moss.

He's too busy bitching about his ankle to catch passes. Either that, or Sterling Moore's overwhelming athleticism was just too much for Evans to handle.

Has Rachel been horrible? I remember wanting him that year in the draft and his name has always intrigued me.

I actually like Erik Walden a lot as a situational rusher.
He brings great energy to the defense
and he's also got a wide variety of finesse moves he uses.
He's a huge liability against the run, but his effort and athleticism make up for it.
Team him up with Melvin Ingram and Sergio Kindle, and we may have found a solution to our problems.

Tulloch re-ups for 5 years. Depending on the money, good deal. I think this will be the start of the LB market.

Pollard is 27. The most important contributor for the older starters on the team is probably Boldin. Lewis and Reed don't make much of an impact anymore and for Reed he's very inconsistent now. I really don't think age is an issue for this team. Sure it would be nice to win a Superbowl with Lewis and Reed but their contributions aren't as important to the defense anymore. Our window for success isn't nearly as small as think it is/was. The list of needs is pretty accurate (outside of SS, only as depth if we bring Pollard back after next season) although I highly doubt we could have done much in this free agency to help with that since we have so little cap space. Cutting McKinnie to re-sign Grubbs would have been nice but we wouldn't have been able to do anything else.

I honestly want to see what would happen if Kaepernick were plugged in next year. He's raw, but it could be a situation of taking a step back in order to take two forward.
The defense and offensive supporting cast are good enough to keep the team afloat and anything the QB provides would be a boost. Plus that division still isn't anything great overall...

I've thought about it. I'll at least wait until things die down a little more. See what actually happens with guys like Smith and Tebow first.
