Oh no....
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-rule-changes/
Quote:
At 3:30 p.m. ET, Falcons president/CEO Rich McKay and NFL executive V.P. of football operations Ray Anderson will participate in a conference call to discuss the Competition Committee’s agenda for the NFL’s annual meetings.
During the call, they’ll outline the proposed rule changes for 2012, which may include some significant revisions to the protection of quarterbacks, in light of the bounty situation in New Orleans. (Indeed, the announcement of the penalties may have been specifically timed to help decrease the inevitable “put skirts on ‘em!” complaints.)

Hmmm I'm going to guess you can't touch them once they let go off the ball.
You can't block them at all on INTs,
2 or more players cannot hit the qb at the same time

No hitting the QB on a handoff I'll bet. That is one of the things the Saints were doing to Favre during the bounty NFC Championship game. IF they're connected, that is probably in there...
sigh.

If that is the case, a lot of players will have to go back to school.

The NFL players should look at pro Golf and see how the ratings dropped when Tiger Woods was out for a year. Screw the "traditionalists", the game NEEDS the big name QB's playing, not on the sidelines injured. The players themselves should realize this.
Ratings = More money

why even have rbs and a pass rush then, or oline men? Just have the defense jog, and everyone else full speed(Qb and WR) = higher score, no? Seems to work for arena, given they have half the length.
We can change the name from football to QuarterbackBall.
The rest of the castaways can join the UFL, where I'll watch them play.

Way to take it to extremes.

Also to add.
T-shirts = money
Sacks = money
Pro Bowls = money
There is a reason why teams pay big money to pass rushers. Or else why not all the owners just agree to sign scrub defensive players?

Ohh Come on. Tell me the last time the rating dipped for the NFL when a qb was injured? Wait how much of a ratings it did the NFL take with no Manning?
Competitive football as a whole draws ratings more than blowouts. More fans were probably excited with Tebow's close wins than Brady's blowouts.

That's a ridiculous contract for Mark Anderson. He didn't do **** in Chicago or Houston. He's a situational pass-rusher at best who had a fluke season on a team that gets the best out of everyone. Awful awful awful.

As the 4th best lineman on that defense though, he'll probably get plenty of garbage sacks and we'll have to hear about how the Bears should regret letting him go or something dumb.....alas.

I knew there was something.
Please some explain to me how the "best" players from all the teams can't generate a higher rating? They score more and have the best Qbs playing, yet ever year the ratings for the game get worse and worse.

I have a feeling that, based on what they just paid Mark Anderson, he'll be starting over Merriman.

That Mark Anderson contract is awful. It might be worse than the contract Ray Edwards got last year.

What so terrible about the Anderson contract? He got 8 million dollars guaranteed in his contract which is extremely low. If it doesn't work out that is all they are on the hook for. If he continues racking up double digit sacks like he's capable of than he is well worth the 27.5 million. I think it is win- win for both sides. The bills protect themselves if he doesn't live up to capabilities and Anderson can make big money if he produces.
