I'm a Stanton fan too!! I actually wanted Miami to sign him over Matt Moore last year cause I thought he could push Henne for the starting job

He's gonna be the only guy on defense week 1.

Saints with half their defense suspended, starting Chase Daniel and a new coach would be comical.

I'm guessing that Vilma will be cut soon which probably will free up the room

No. Not good times. So many Bears fans crawled out of hiding to talk **** about a team that they didn't know **** about. It was awful listening to all of these people come talk to me since they know I'm a football fan about what a ***** cutler is and how much better off they'd be just going with Hanie and letting Cutler ride the bench.

Even with the cut, it only frees up another 5 million, totaling 8 million in cap space. With 3 million under the cap, they signed 3 guys: Bunkley (5 year 25 million), Chamberlan, and Lofton.
No offense, but doesn't this put themselves in salary cap hell for the next few years? Plus, they have a disgruntled QB who it seems like they forgot about in terms of contract status.

Chad Ochocinco has agreed to reduce his salary from $3 million to $1 million in an attempt to make the final roster.

He wasnt a problem last year. I think he didn't get comfortable with the playbook enough to judge his performance. I think with a full off-season and dedication, he'll be better this year. He's doing all the right things. I think once he gets some chemistry down with Brady and the routes, the Pats will get that value of the pick they dealt.

I actually kinda hope he has a different role on the team this year now with the Lloyd signing. I definitely think he is more suited to the role Deion Branch had last year instead of being asked to go deep more often than not.
He still has the ability to beat single coverage and when he knows what route to run he runs it very well.

I'm posting this in the FA thread because I don't know if it warrants it's own thread, and because I fully expect Nick Collins to be granted a release if he doesn't willingly retire.

Quote:
“Dr. Pat McKenzie and our medical staff, they’re conservative by nature,” McCarthy said. “We’re not going to put him in harm’s way. If he’s on the field, he’ll be cleared, he’ll be 100 percent, everybody will be comfortable.”
[...]
“If Nick was my son,” McCarthy told Wilde, “I would not let him play.”
|
When it comes to neck injuries, the Packers almost always take a "no ******* way in hell we're playing him" approach. A few teams will want to kick the tires on him, though.
A random piece of football trivia: Eric Dickerson was traded to the Packers in 1993. Dr. McKenzie failed Dickerson during his physical because he had apparently been playing almost his entire career with a serious neck injury. Dickerson promptly retired.

This is ******** to me. He's a grown man who has been in the NFL a very long time, not some 21 year old kid coming from a spread offense. Really makes you wonder how smart/dumb of a football player he really is, it shouldn't take a WR a year and a half to learn a playbook.

No idea, but a suspended player doesn't count against the cap so the Saints can just wait for the end of Vilma's suspension to cut him.

the problem with ocho is that he got off with being so quick. in his prime, his cuts were silky smooth, they were unreal. that's how he got open so well and quickly. his cuts were smooth, and sharp and got him separation. as he's getting older, he's losing that ability
