Darryn Colledge restructured saving $2.3 mil

We were talking to Bell I wonder what the hold up was, maybe it was his price but that should be dropping

The Steelers got 3 comp picks. How? I don't know. I knew that Speath was going to get one and Eason had an outside shot, but I did not know that Keyaron Fox was worth a comp pick.

He gets pushed around pretty badly, but you know that someone else would scarf him up in an instant if the Falcons cut him.

A healthy McNeil would be an upgrade, but I don't know about Bell. I think he's a little overrated on average since people really seem to like Buffalo Bills for some reason. Apparently they are an entire team of underrated and saying otherwise is a sin.

Packers got 2 4th round comp picks and a 7th.

Edit: My bad, 2 7th rounders.

On a scale of 1-10, his burst was down to about a 2.5 last I saw him. He's probably done.

Shame too. I loved Stevey. Still do.

He was a system player who thrived in the Run N Shoot system. He's a possession WR but in the slot in that system, you can get open if you're smart and Smith thrived in it.

Put him in any other system and he's a small possession WR at his best, with his injury he's probably not even that anymore.

We still <3 you Steve!

Meh, they lost an overrated "two down" linebacker. They could have just been saying that to suppress his price a little or something, but they didn't seem too terribly worried.

I liked Lofton. I think his coverage skills are being a bit exaggerated. He was solid in coverage. Not a world beater, but not many MIKEs are. You take what you can get.

I wonder if the Falcons toy with the idea of moving Sean Weatherspoon to MIKE. He's definitely got the tools to play it, and I think he's well on his way to being one of the better 4-3 LBs in the league. He was very, very impressive whenever I watched the Falcons last year. Too bad, I wanted him on the Ravens something awful that year. Would have been a hell of a successor to Ray.

Btw, your sig isn't showing up for me BBD...it's the only one on the page doing that.

Anyway....if Steve Smith is the Rams big answer at WR, they've got problems. Jeff Fisher is already an anti-WR guy and they started with the cupboard bare there...not good.

Sam Bradford is going to be widely viewed as a bust by the end of this season.

Spoon can definitely play MIKE. I liked the Spoon Lofton combo, it was a great 1 2 punch. Lofton hammered the middle and Spoon was able to roam sideline to sideline and make plays. Thought it was one of the better LB duos in the league.

I was a big Spoon fan as well. I was scouting LBs pretty hard that year, and I just couldn't sell myself on Rolando. I thought he was very underwhelming which is turning out to be the case, I liked Spikes a lot but worried me in a 4-3 with that 5.0 40 but still liked him. Turns out Spikes is having the better career than Rolando which I also felt was possible.

But out of all 3 LBs, I liked Spoon the most and if we didn't grab JPP i was hoping Spoon would have been the guy. Glad to see him doing well.

I loved Daryl Washington as a 4-3 WILL too. Didn't expect him to be this good in a 34 scheme. Makes me wish we drafted him now to play MIKE. I love Washington.

And I'm sure we all wish we had Navarro Bowman on our team. I missed on the boat on him, and Sean Lee. I have a bias against Penn State so I generally dislike their prospects. Whoops.

Speaking of Bowman, he was dominating in every 49ers game I saw last year. You'd really have to pay attention because you'd look up to see a LB shooting in to make a hell of a tackle and think "great play by Willlis..."

Nope. Bowman.

The 2 best ILBs in the game both play for San Francisco.

Crazy when you think about it. I hope we can scoop up Bowman in FA one day bc there's no way in hell SF will be able to afford to pay 2 ILBs top dollar long term.

The franchise tag for linebackers is hilariously cheap. It's like $2 million less than RBs and shrinking. I think they'll easily just tag him for $5 million then $6 million for 2 seasons and just roll with it.

When word came out that Nolan only thought of Lofton as a 2 down backer (which now appears true) what was said was that Spoon would play MLB in the nickel.

I think he could move their full time, but I'd be against it. He's already an elite WILL. Just have to hope we get something resembling the old Lofa.

It would have been a thing of beauty. Your secondary in a Spags scheme though? Not so much.

But that LB core would be sweet.

I look forward to the "3rd and 10, playcall is a slant where the receiver runs straight into the safety for, at maximum, 7 yards" calls. Followed by a punt. And/or Jeff Fisher having Stephen Jackson worked into an Eddie George like pulp.

I still love Bradford. He was my favorite qb prospect since Eli (before Luck came into the fold).

I still have high hopes for him.

Too bad, I wanted him on the Ravens something awful that year. Would have been a hell of a successor to Ray.
The plan is to have lofa and last years 3rd round pick Akeem Dent battle it out for the starting ILB job

The Falcons will also probably be in a full blown 3-4 within a few seasons if Nolan sticks around anyway.

They might as well eventually transition to a 3-4 if Nolan is gonna be around for awhile. After all, it's not like they have any players in the front 4 worth a damn to keep the 4-3 anyway.
