We just traded a 2nd and a 3rd(2nd) for Alex ******* Smith. Colquitt is needed.

These are the rumors right now.

5/50 for Bowe is very surprising. I think Miami would have crushed that.

Yes. Being a financially responsible team involves investing your cap space in positions where there is the biggest dropoff. The difference between the #1 and #32 punters in the league is probably smaller than any position in the league except long snapper.

my point was alex smith isnt a guy you bring in to put up flashy numbers, if hes shown ANYTHING over the course of his career it is that he doesnt adapt well to change, and hes sure had a lot of it

Basically what everyone else says. You don't give a punter that amount of money.
The Bowe and Albert signings are good though. No idea who they're going to draft...

I'd like to know who the worst punter was and how their team did?
And who was the best and how their team did?
and how each team faired with their opponents' starting field position.
Field position is important, and ST is 1/3 of the game, and punting is 1/3 of that...FG, KO, Punting.
Just curious, not saying its bad or good to pay a punter that much. But you are only so good at punting, as your punter. The guy exclusively handles the ball, on punts, he would be, lets say the 'qb' of the punt-off team.

Yar. Only franchise QBs get the non-exclusive. Always wondered why Florio pretended that Flacco could get the non-exclusive.

KC lands their QB, Keeps their LT and resigns their number 1 WR. How is this team not having a good off season?

Well the last change to Harbaugh worked out pretty well for him.

Vidae,
Now that the Chiefs have franchised Albert I see no reason for them to draft Joeckel or any other LT.
Do you think they may still go ahead and draft Geno and see what he may bring in a trade, or go ahead and let Reid develop him in case Alex screws up again?
Frankly, I am not sure what the strategies are for KC. I really didn't think that they would franchise B. Albert and am rather surprised that they did.
WHAT SAY YE?

If they want a QB behind Smith, they are going to go mid round like always, not take the 1st pick on one. Kolb, Foles, he'll want a guy he likes in the 3rd-4th round range especially if he isn't expected to start right off the bat anyway.
Depending on when somebody goes like Zac Dysert, I'd be all over him in the middle rounds. He's got franchise QB potential and combined being in an Andy Reid offense along with sitting for a few years he could end up a steal. If you can get him in the 4th round I'd trust Reid to turn him into something, because if you wanted Geno at 1.01 you've got to let him play from day 1 and use 34 on supporting cast around him.

Geno makes the most sense to me from where I'm sitting, but it won't happen. I think the pick will be Star.

Andy Lee is one of the 3 biggest reasons why the 49ers beat the Pats in December. Most punters are interchangeable, however a select few will give you that huge 60 yard punt you need when you're really backed up. Colquitt is one of those guys. I have no problem with the contract he got.

I ****ing love Andy Lee. Game after game he is consistently one of our most valuable players, IMO. I can't remember the last time he had a bad punt and other teams rarely start drives with good field position against us, it seems.

I can't even begin to imagine how ****** the Chiefs would have looked without Colquitt. He singlehandedly kept us from getting blown out in every single game we played.
