He'd be perfect for Detroit but he probably doesn't view us as a serious contender.
'probably'?

I am officially obligated to stop liking him if he joins the Seattle secondary, right?

After the stuff he's done over the last couple of years, I really do think Andy Reid would be better off bringing me in to handle the free agency/veteran evaluation portion of his job. He probably still has me beat by a hell of a lot in the draft, but I could have prevented so much veteran fail...

Woodson for the Lions would be a nice fit. That team needs a leader in the worst way. Signing Wood and drafing Dee Milliner would be a nice start in rebuilding that back end.

Also everyone has them down for a DE at 5. Which I know they are going to need one, but they also invested a 2nd and 13th picks on two Dt's. It's time for those two to jump to the next level.

If the Seahawks sign Charles Woodson and Abraham before the draft even starts I will officially be jealous of their defense. That's ********. I would rather the Giants sign him then Seattle.

KC fans. Albert has said that he's no OG ( what he played in college ) or RT. With all the linemen on the FA market wouldn't be best to go after a real RT. Andre Smith or Vollmer ( Less money to sign as well ) and draft Luke Joeckel?

And let Albert walk.

It's creating two holes (LT/RT, which they've already done) to sign and draft a replacement. That is the worst use of resources I've ever seen, so no, it wouldn't be best.

Woodson fell off a cliff last year. There's a reason the Packers, a team who'll be looking for a safety, released him without even trying to restructure. He was in decline in 2011 and completely lost it last year. I wouldn't expect much from him no matter where he ends up.

Well if he signs in Seattle he would just play the nickel for them.

By drafting a LT at #1, keeping Winston and letting Albert hit free agency, the Chiefs would have ended up with bookend tackles, with Winston in the 2nd year of a 4yr, $22m contract and the LT (Joeckel/Fisher) earning just slightly more as Andrew Luck's contract as the top pick last year was 4 yrs and $22.1m.

The cap hit for Joeckel/Fisher and Winston
$4m approx for the rookie
$6.5m for Winston
Total: $10.5m

The cap hit for Joeckel/Fisher, Albert and releasing Winston.
$4m approx for the rookie
$9.828 franchise tag on Albert
$3m dead money on Winston
Total: $16.828m

Yeah, that works out at approx $6.3m in wasted cap space they've created for themselves next season.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Dolphins have agreed to terms with receiver Brian Hartline.

They say that it shows he wasn't expecting to be pursued by many as a starter, but I'm also pretty shocked. Definitely thought he had a shot with the Jets or Browns.

PFT reporting that the Jags will release safety Dawan Landry today

Quote:
Jaguars safety Dawan Landry was due to make $5.35 million this year.

Now, he’ll make nothing. From the Jaguars.

They’ll cut Landry today, per a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Landry, a fifth-round pick of the Ravens in 2006, signed with the Jaguars in 2011. Via spotrac.com, it was a five-year, $27 million contract. The move results in a $3.9 million cap charge, for a net cap savings of $1.45 million.

But the cash savings of $5.35 million could be used on other players. Perhaps on one of the many free-agent safeties who will be hitting the market.

This shocks me. I think he's clearly better than 4 current starters and would have at least a 50/50 chance of beating out 11 more in a completely open and fair QB competition...including Tannehill. I was hoping the Bears could land him to be our #2.

Now the FA QB crop is just putrid. The only guy I can even imagine being a decent starter is Garrard...who's old, may not be healthy, and hasn't played in an NFL game since 2010.

I'm also surprised that Moore didn't even test the market to see what's out there. Maybe he's happy to live in Miami and make good enough money as a backup.

Now the FA QB crop is just putrid. The only guy I can even imagine being a decent starter is Garrard...who's old, may not be healthy, and hasn't played in an NFL game since 2010.
You, sir, have a truly impressive imagination.

lol. My imagination says it's possible, but a long shot.

The more I think about Moore and Orton jumping at backup deals, the more I wonder whether they're just the kind of guys who don't give a **** about football; the ones who are in it just because they have enough talent to stick and it's a good paying job.

It is one hell of a cushy job. Hold a clipboard, take some practice snaps and run the look team. Fat 6 fig salary and you don't even have to take the beatings. I'm jealous.

Pretty good chance the Colts sign Dawan Landry. Chuck Pagano was his coach in Baltimore for several years and the Colts need a SS badly. Weird move by the Jags, I thought he was one of their better D players last year. And they don't save much.
