Or, a 4-3 DT. I can honestly see a conversion to 4-3 in the cards.

I don't see them converting to a 4-3. They might use some 4-3 packages, but they'll still be a base 3-4.
Bellichick has been talking about a 4-3 for quite some time now, but always sticks to his 3-4 front when the season starts.
Plus he doesn't have the linebackers for a 4-3. Haynesworth will be a DE in his 3-4 scheme.
It's a smart move if it works bc he can now stop the run with 7 in the box. Haynesworth and Wilfork will set the edges and funnel the run to the middle, where Mayo and Spikes will swallow the RB.
Now you can play 2 deep safety every down, taking away the deep pass.
It's what the Giants used to do under Parcells. Take away the run, take away the deep ball, and play interior zones to take away YAC on short passes, and you'll just suffocate them to death.

The Lions sign WR, Rashied Davis to a one year contract. This pleases me because I never wanted to see him again.

How do you figure he doesn't have the LBs? Mayo Sam, Spikes Mike, Guyton Will.

Spikes play MIKE in space? He'll get abused. And that's coming from a huge Brandon Spikes fan.
Good luck getting him to play deep middle zone. Teams will eat the Pats up with skinny posts all game long.

Sure we have the LBs but I agree with BBD.
Our base D will still be a 34 but the D will show some 43 looks at times.
That flexibility is the sex

I'm sure depth would be a significant issue
This is the same discussion amongst 49ers fans. Many argue theyd be better off in a 4-3
Aldon Smith | Ray McDonald | Isaac Sopoaga | Justin Smith
NaVorro Bowman | Patrick Willis | Manny Lawson

Spikes is as slow as they come, I doubt he'd work well in a 4-3 system. If I recall, he was basically being viewed as a 3-4 thumper by most teams. With his speed he'd be able to cover no one except Jared Lorenzen and a 300 lbs. Alge Crumpler. Spikes is a great fit as the thumper though, as he's got the aggressiveness and tenacity to clog up running lanes and take on blockers.
Mayo I think is also suited much better to be a 3-4 ILB, but that's just my opinion. Guyton could work in a 4-3.

Did they re-sign Manny Lawson?
And the front page says the SEAHAWKS signed Ryan Longwell. I know we are taking a lot of Vikings but they re-signed him.

lol! I'll agree with you there, they'd have to help him out in coverage. Poor guy is about as fast as I am lol.

Still a FA. This is just an argument several have used as a reason to re-sign him.
