Except the Eagles didn't try to make him Asante Samuel. This myth that he was only terrible because the Eagles played zone coverage a few times, is completely untrue. He got beat consistently in man coverage, by receivers he shouldn't be getting beat by. He sucked in both zone and man coverage. He sucks.

Do you listen to yourself? How does Aso NOT upgrade the worst defense of all time?

I'm not gonna act like I know for sure the reason(s) his play dropped off so much, but at some point we have got to stop acting like it was just because he played zone.

Even if that was the reason(which it isn't), let's be honest, who wants a CB that is that terrible anytime you call zone? What DC's call aggressive man schemes 100% of the time? Or do you just take him out when you call zone because he's going to get burned?
i live in philadelphia, they are the only team im able to watch on tv most of the time.

I saw him chasing WRs into the endzone plenty...and ive also seen the eagles absolutely RUIN so many promising safeties over the years and last year was no exception to absolutely ABYSMAL safety play. Decent free agent pickups and draft picks and all have flopped so hard for them...none of these guys amounted to anything for them as they tried to replace their last respectable duo in Dawkins and Mikell

OJ Atagwe
Sean Jones
Nate Allen
Macho Harris
Jaiquain Jarrett
Kurt Coleman

Im sure im missing some names but thats off the top of my head.

Nnamdi should have played better, but he got no help over the top from some pretty terrible safety play. Everyone looked at their pathetic LB corps last year and the year before but safety has been an uphill battle for them too. Nnamdi does not suck, he was not good there but i think he would be excellent with the saints, bucs, packers, ect...you put nnamdi in dick lebeaus defense and all youd see is WTF moments from him though.

Didnt live up to his big contract (that wasnt as big as many of us expected during the FA frenzy post lockout) but that doesnt mean hes done

IMO, any team should be willing to give Nnamdi a one year, low cost contract. Two years ago he was considered either 1 or 1a at his position. If you sign him and he plays like complete **** like he did in Philly, don't play him. If he gets back to even half the player he was, you made your team better. Is there much chance that he regains his form? No. That said I would still think he has a better chance to be a dominant player again than someone like Greg Toler. It's obviously a huge risk/reward signing, but you can offset some of the risk if you make him play on a cheap one year deal.

Aso was horrible, and playing with equally horrible safeties...they weren't good and then magically sucked when they came here. They got overpaid/overdrafted and we were too dumb to realize it.

thats kinda what i meant by ruin, it wasnt a shot at the eagles more as it was just saying a lot of safeties have gone through there and they havent been able to stick

Maybe a little, but so what. Now they can focus on other needs with their 4 #1 picks these next 2 years. And don't discount what Cook can do. I can see him being one of, if not the main target for Bradford. And by moving Saffold to RT, the Rams just improved 2 OL spots. Also, last years free agent pick up OC Wells was hurt most of the year and so was road grader rookie OG Watkins. Getting those 2 back will be like adding 2 more really good players. Fisher and Snead know what they're doing. The Rams are in good hands.

I'd rather take a shot at Aso being good/great on a decent deal than give up huge money and picks for Revis. Aso won't get a huge contract again until he proves himself.

Aso sucked for a whole bunch of reasons, some team some personal, but he was a very good player for a time and a decent contract is worth seeing I could bring back that good player again. It isn't set in stone that he can't bounce back and be at least a solid starting corner.

Barnes to the Jets isn't official yet, but when it is, I'll love it! I love his tenacity. I think he can carve out a nice little niche here.

Also, people are hating on Aso a little too much. This is why I would always be hesitant to give a CB big money (and why Revis is in a class of his own). He had a bad year. Champ's had a bad year. Woodson's had a bad year. Sherman will have a bad year. CB play is far too unpredictable and generally has too many variables to it.

In any case, Aso's still good and that would be a great signing for the Saints.

I think they overpaid by quite a bit. Cook is now the 3rd highest paid TE in the NFL. He's not a blocker, and has yet to be a red-zone target or one that can run a lot of routes.

Long has always been overrated, and now there's questions about his health and if he can even play at the same level and they gave him $16m guaranteed.

Sure it helps the team with their draft ability, but long-term I don't see how these are two good signings
