I thought there would be much more interest in Brandon Moore. Yeah, he's not a young buck, but damn he's good.

Idonije has always been pretty solid, but his play certainly improved once he got to play across from Julius Peppers.
If he's starting for you, you need an upgrade, but he's a good backup to have.

The flat cap screwed over a lot of free agents. The rookie wage scale was supposed to mean more money for veterans. Ha!
Goodell really did em dirty this time.

The middle level of FA's are the ones getting killed.

The # of mid level FAs has increased as well bc the cap didn't go up. That's why so many players are signing 1 year deals.
In the NFL, you really only have 2 legit contracts. Your rookie contract and your 2nd contract. After that (minus elite talent) you're not gonna get paid much the 3rd time around, and won't even be wanted the 4th time around.
That's why the rookie wage scale screwed over a lot of players. They thought that would mean more money for veteran FAs, but that's not true. Your value as an older player is based on age and production. The rookie wage scale just saves owners money, it doesn't do anything for veteran players.

Is it confirmed that the Ravens open on the road? If so, then stupid MLB Commish is a fool. The city had a great chance to have a day for both sports. Go to the baseball game, and at night the Ravens opener.

No they'll work something out. The guy who owns the O's is a big ass so I'm sure he's playing a major role in holding it up.

I'd be stoked at that signing. Always been a fan. Can play DE, UT on passing downs, and can block kicks.

Orioles and Ravens share parking I think, don't think it can happen.

i'll be honest, there's no reward. shanahan ruined him when he put him at SLB and then lit his remains on fire when he put him at MLB. the dude will make all the tackles, 7-8 yards down field. his first step is *never* towards the line. and he can't cover anyone on passing downs. even finally putting him back at WLB where he should've been all along didn't help.
i hope he's got something left, i liked him a lot after his rookie year, but i don't know of a single denver fan who's wanted him on the team for the last three years, and that's in spite of starting the rough equivalent of a high school JV squad at lb lately.

They do, but R.G suggested in a presser that the game can be in the morning or afternoon, and they can make the NFL game later like 8:30 or 9. He put pressure on MLB commish by saying how it would be a great day for the both fans and something memorable. However, Bud Selig, didn't relent or even try to work anything out.

Would definitely be cool for Baltimore but they are just playing it conservative if I had my guess.

Maybe he'll just have a two-back set and either hand it off to Forte or Bush. Of course, while no world-beater, Cutler's fairly athletic. My lasting memory of him from this past season is hearing that he proposed via text.

Ravens opening on the road is a horrible idea. The champions have opened their following season at home on Thursday night for the last several years and even though im a 49ers fan, I dont think the Ravens should have to play a road game. PFT suggested the Dolphins in Miami which would make the most sense for various reasons but even that should be an afterthought. Do the Orioles play on Wed or Fri night? If not, NFL should just move the game to Wed or Fri.

The NFL was able to open up the season on a Wednesday this past season, and with the Orioles being on the road that night it would make sense to go ahead and just go with that plan again.

Andy Reid plans on using Jamaal Charles out of the backfield as a receiving option. I never got why Charles was taken out on 3rd downs last year.
JC is going to put up huge #'s next year.

+1000.
The NFLPA gets routinely bent over by the owners and they don't even know it.
The rookie wage scale was supposed to push more money towards contracts to sign proven veteran performers. But I haven't seen a bump in the amount FA vets are paid as a whole.
If you're a vet who's 29-30+ years old, most teams it seems like try to low ball you into signing the cheapest deal possible.

Except, IF we presume the overall cap was not going to really increase for 3 years regardless, then if the old rookie rules were in place the vets would be getting EVEN less. The rookie contract limits and the overall cap numbers are independent.

This is why the owners are billionaires who got where they are. They know how to work deals in their favor and get what they want. Really shrewd businessmen to deal with in negotiations.

I kind of think De Smith just sucks at negotiations.

I didn't even know Shane Lechler was available. Very underrated signing by the Texans.
