I like the Willie Young signing by the Bears. Got a good deal of pressure last year and should provide solid depth if nothing else.

This is actually awesome. He had 60 pressures last season. Houston had 50. In comparison, Peppers had 40 and McClellin had 18.

Our pass rush got a lot better, just in a sneaky and cheap way. Our run defense is getting better so far, too. I'm happy that we're getting away from the old way of thinking where a guy with a bunch of sacks on only 20 pressures could fool the team (Mark Anderson!). This is a lot smarter use of resources. We still need a decent cheap 3rd DE to play 400-500 rotation snaps, though (Ayers?). Two guys can't play all the snaps and be at their most effective.

My only ***** about Young is his penalties. I remember some taunting and stuff last season.

Got Domenik Hixon to be the fourth receiver or whatever. No one cares, though.

At least you got rid of Chris Williams!

Young also had significantly more talented line-mates than he'll have here. I'm not hating on the signing, but I don't want this to be the end of our d-line addressing.

Shea was one of the more puzzling draft picks of that 1st round. I never liked him, in any scheme honestly. His meteoric rise was something I didn't really understand.

Yup, 4th in QB hurries for 4-3 DEs. Not bad. Very good against the run and gives consistent effort.

Ray Edwards effect. When you have 3 DLmen with higher priority on the protection schemes, the 4th guy is gonna get his.

He's Ray Edwards.

I think it was more of a result of Brooks Reed who had just come off a pretty good rookie season. Those 2 looked like mirror images of one another as prospects.

Well everyone was comparing Brooks to Clay because of the hair...

...so Shea = Brooks = Clay

I think?

Ray Edwards was a solid player who I'd have paid 3 mil per year. He couldn't stay healthy in Atlanta more than he underperformed.

Looks like the Bengals aren't going to match the Hawkins deal now.
