Probably because he put up 900 yards last time he played, has generally been productive(lead the league in receiving one year) and would come very cheap. Why wouldn't you look at him???

Because he doesn't solve our receiver needs. He's 32, hasn't played for a year, isn't a speedster, drops easy passes, and sucks in regards to YAC. Maybe if he was 27. But not anymore. Dude is probably broke which is why he is trying to make a comeback.

I also didn't like his attitude when he was here. Granted, he was a younger player at the time, but the goon just didn't have any class when leaving for Washington.

Brandon Lloyd was horribad for the Pats. He was probably one of my least favorite players I can remember in the last few years. Some people may point to his yardage total, but he was a black hole on offense for us. I've said this before, and I'll reiterate the point here, I'd take Ocho back before I would take Lloyd back.

Looking at this post makes me hate how we go after this position even more. Lloyd and Ocho.....christ.

Also looking at Lloyd's numbers and suggesting he had a good year with us is like the epitome of numbers not telling you the whole story. I hated that guy on our team, he was awful. Reche Caldwell put up similar numbers with us that one year and never played football again.

Panthers signed TE Ed Dickson, plan to start him with Greg Olsen. I wonder if this means FB Mike Tolbert will move to RB (which he sort of is already).

"NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports transition-tagged C Alex Mack's five-year offer sheet with the Jaguars is worth $42 million, and includes a player opt-out clause after 2015.
The deal includes $18 million guaranteed over the first two seasons. The $8.4 million average annual value will make Mack the highest-paid center in the league. Mack can void the deal after 2015, and cannot be franchise tagged if he does so. However, if Mack chooses not to opt out, he'll be guaranteed $8 million for 2016."

Yeah, that's getting matched. Jags didn't even try to make it hard on the Browns.

Isn't an average of $8.4 million a year a little much for a center?

Yea, but Cleveland would be stupid enough to match it. You can pretty much have a trash center and still have a decent OL.

Brandon Lloyd wasn't that bad with the Patriots, I think the way he was used was really the problem there. It seemed like Josh McDaniels called way too many back-shoulder fades and sideline throws deep downfield to Lloyd even though they weren't really working at any point. He disappeared at times, but he looked like he had something left in the tank.

The only way Brandon Lloyd was used wrong is that he was used at all. Seriously, the man took 1000+ snaps for us despite only bringing 1 tangibly good trait to the table which are his comeback routes. Lets look at Lloyd's skillset:

Speed: Below Average
RAC: Below Average
Height: Average
Hands: Average-Above Average
Route Tree: Below Average
Red-Zone Ability: Below Average

And that was before he took a year off.

Statistically speaking he was one of the worst high volume targets in the league. He didn't provide us with any deep threat ability as an X receiver. Instead he was a possession receiver that only caught 51% of his targets his last 2 NFL seasons.

No team with a productive offense should have a place for Lloyd. He doesn't bring anything tangible that you want out of your X receiver. Especially not for a team like the 49ers that has 2 possession receivers that are tremendously more efficient and well rounded than Lloyd.

Josh Freeman to work out for the Giants after getting no deal with the Bears.

He has fallen hard and fast for a guy who had some promise at one point.

Any reason to mock Alex Smith, right???

Tim Rattay is saddened that Smith even gets blamed fro the Lloyd duck.

Mocking Smith on this board is always fun. Always. Its pretty much surpassed the packer "injury" rants in terms of how funny it is.

Wow yeah it would be so stupid for us to match a contract of 8 a year when we don't have a contract for a QB and are over 30 million under the cap still.

Good lord that would be so stupid, classic clowns move.

Still one of the most bizarre incompletions I've ever seen. You would think a WR's instincts would make he try to catch a ball coming right at him.

My guess would be you dont usually see a ball thrown so poorly to you at the NFL level, he must have thought it was intended for someone else and was getting out of the way?
