if they could get consistent pressure without blitzing and a safety with range to make some throwing windows smaller scandrick would be better, he's not superstar corner but he's good enough, i think he's better than most of the giants corners and they won 2 superbowls with that terrible secodary, jenkins is the starter idk how you think he's comnig off the bench

Bobby Massie*, OT, Ole Miss
Height: 6-6. Weight: 316.
40 Time: 5.23.
Bench: 22. Arm: 35.
Projected Round (2012): 2.
4/6/12: Massie has quietly moved up draft boards. He had a decent Combine but reportedly had an impressive pro day. Some believe he could crack the first round but should go in the top half of the second round. It wouldn't be a complete shock if a team takes him over Adams.
Massie had some quality games this season, but did not have his best performance against Alabama. He did well in run blocking in 2011. Massie is too strong to be bull rushed, and he has the athletic ability to mirror well in pass blocking.
Massie is still a little raw and could use more experience and development. There are stretches where he simply overwhelms defenders. Massie looks like he is a future starter at right tackle in the NFL.

Hmm, he sounds a lot like Orlando Franklin from last year. If we didn't give Free that huge extension I might've been interested in Round 2.
Shame.

Don't be surprised if we go OT in round 3 or 4. I know they like Parnell and I do too but we need a bit more depth than that. One guy goes down and we don't even have a back up. If two of them get hurt in the same game we would probably be playing Arkin at tackle... yeah, no thanks.
If there is a nice value in the 3rd or 4th at OT and he is clearly one of the top 5 players available, i'd do it. Depends on who else is available, but it is definitely a possibility.

I have to think they will come away from this draft with either Barron or Kirkpatrick, although Kirkpatrick is a hot commodity as a big (6-2) corner now & will be gone long before pick #14, & they don't have the ammunition to trade up.
|
Ha I pity the fool that takes kirkpatrick in the top 10 nick Saban did a good job of hiding his players weaknesses and accentuating their strengths Kirkpatrick is a no. 2 corner not shutdown corner

Watch them draft Weeden in the 3rd rd. this yr. to be "groomed for Romo's replacement." Just b/c they love them some Oklahoma St. COWBOYS!! T. Boone Pickens gave Oklahoma St. >$450M, guess who they named their stadium after? And Pickens lives in Dallas, good buds with Jerry.
Weeden is like 28 yrs. old....(facepalm). Yeah I know, they have to replace Romo SOMETIME, but maybe next yr.

You're rather generous calling it "logic". -_-
Weeden is also sitting somewhere between the early 20s and mid 2nd. If he wasn't 67 years old he would be in the 2 QB discussion.
Back to topic....
Turbin is a beast.

I'm all for drafting a T in the mid rounds. We do need some quality depth at the position.

I was watching some clips from Stanford's pro day and DeCastro seemed to handle snaps from under center and in the shotgun pretty well. I'd love nothing more than to take him at 14 and play him at center. I'd first prefer Coples or Ingram ahead of him, but would love it if we did draft him.

It's called sarcasm, just one of the features we offer freely.
But at some point a Romo replacement will be found.

Offense: Interior line (whether OG or C), TE (backup), WR (3rd/backup)
Adds up to 7 positions needed and we have 8 draft picks. The exercise is as follows you must pick select a player at each of the "need" positions and one of those eight picks is "a la carte". Should be an interesting way of finding targets in different rounds.
|
1, (14) Fletcher Cox, DE, Miss State - Pass rushing 5-tech Boys fans have been screaming for.
2, (45) Kevin Zeitler, OG, Wisc. - Can compete right away for starting job.
3, (81) Jake Bequette, OLB, Arkansas - Underrated pass rusher with strength and technique.
4, (113) Dwight Bentley, CB, Louisiana-Lafayette - Speed, fluidity and confidence. Groom-able corner with tons of upside.
4, (135) Joe Adams, WR, Arkansas - Quicker than fast, jumper, slot guy day one.
5, (152) Rhett Ellison, TE, USC - NFL pedigree, versatile TE, special team contributor.
6, (186) Lennon Creer, RB, La Tech - East/West Shrine MVP
7, (222) Ian Thomas, ILB, Illinois - Explosive, strong backer. Played behind and beside Martez Wilson. 4.68 40yd and 31 bench reps... late round flyer.

The Fort-Worth Star Telegram is reporting that Mark Barron has an 80% chance to be the pick at 14. The Cowboys think he has Troy Polamalu potential in that he isn't a center fielder but he is always around the ball.
There is also speculation that the Jets signed LaRon Landry because they knew the Cowboys are going to take Barron.

Sarcasm died on this forum back in 2009
There is no need to find a replacement for romo right now, romo probably four good years left, we can cross that bridge in 2 years

I just went back and looked at the past 5 drafts and an elite safety prospect did not fall to the cowboys in any of those drafts. If Jerry has an opportunity to take the best safety in the class without having to trade up for him, I think the cowboys will wind up drafting Barron. We have been complaining about not having a safety for a while, but we haven't been in a position to take a good safety in the draft in a few years. There is a reason why there is a lack of safety play in the NFL right now, and it's because there has been a lack of safety's coming out of the draft that can flat out play ball. There is a handful of good ones, and if Barron pans out, we will be one of the few teams with a good safety.

True to say our safety play was bad would be understatement but Barron isn't a cover safety he is an the box type with instincts and ball skills, and I'm not under the impression that Bridget pool or sensabaugh are type of safeties that compliment him well
