I don't know how Molasses can struggle versus mediocre defenses, yet he does the fustion technique against the LSU's and Alabama's of the world. Blargh.

And it's absolutely awesome. Never have I seen a team not able to complete a pass, yet absolutely control a game. (outside of triple option teams)

You've got to love a 13-1 run/pass ratio not doing much for you?

I'm slowly becoming anti-Justin Wilcox. The dude was the DC at Boise St. and was able to stop the BCS Bowl teams with little league talent, so when he came to UT where the talent was behind the other SEC teams, I figured it was a great fit. But so far, he's been given the best talent he's ever coached and the defense not only doesn't overachieve in his scheme, but basic fundamentals like tackling and taking proper angles aren't even there.
And they better recruit the **** out of the secondary this year. They had a blurb in the UT/UF game about current starters on UT that had started in the previous year's matchup. Starting CB Marsalis Teague was one of the few players who had - except he started at WR the year before. He plays like a WR playing CB too. Prentiss Waggner shouldn't be playing safety when he's the best CB on the team. Brent Brewer is overrated by Vols fans. And Izeau Lanier isn't anything special.
If you're not gonna coach well enough to raise the level of play, then at least be a good recruiter to bring in the talent to make up for your incompetance. It's a good thing for DB Coach Terry Joseph that he's the RC, cause he's been just as disappointing as Wilcox.

Sorry to say it, but the only one to blame for tackling poorly are the players.

Brandon Roby has become my new favorite non-Iowa player. Called out AJ Jenkins and has completely shut him down so far. Plus the push OOB for PI was hilarious.

Both sides deserve blame for poor tackling. Ultimately it's upon the players' shoulders to execute, but it's the coach's responsibility to fix issues and prepare the players. So when it becomes a weekly issue, I do blame the coaches. Cause if it's a problem with the player, then the player needs to be put into a position where the flaw is masked, made to work on those issues more in practice, or outright replaced. Combine that with mistakes like constantly taking poor angles or having too many men on the field, and I can't give the coach the benefit of the doubt that he's instilling all that's needed into the players and it's just a lack of experience/skill/effort on the player's part.
But yes, the buck ends with the players since they're the ones out there doing the actual tackling.

Its pretty sad that I'm sitting here hoping for a win just so this team stands a chance of finishing bowl eligible. Never thought I'd see the day.
