I find it easy to be optimistic because the team has made lots of improvements each week and there's still areas they can focus on and improve a ton with the players they have. They have an opportunity to sweep their next 4 games if the unit they've had out there continues to make adjustments and the gameplans continue to be solid. If Baldwin, Gaither, or any of the newer players take a big step last week and this week, the Chiefs are looking really good again.
Yes, every team had the same off-season. The Chiefs handled it differently than the others and it didn't work out that great early on. Every team had different areas they needed to focus on in the off-season, and the Chiefs were a team that needed to bring in a lot of UDFAs to compete for jobs (DB, WR, TE mainly) and improve the depth of the roster (whether the UDFAs made it or the incumbent players stepped it up). They really weren't able to do that with the shortened off-season.
