I also want to see us add a return specialist. Our return game was pathetic last year.

finally, what's everyone's thoughts on our 3rd round pick Bernard Pierce ?
Yes I would like to possibly target Cliff Harris in the 7th or UDFA to address our return game and possibly even glean some of that talent out of him and maybe make him a nickel/dime guy

If you read up I think their are some comments on the Pierce pick (I know I did at least)

Yeah I think Ta'amu would be a nice pick too. He could play a little bit of DE like McKinney did and it would be nice to have a another big guy to rotate in.

If we don't end up with Keshawn Martin after the draft ends I'm going to consider the third day a failure. :D

I think/expect the Ravens to target a WR very early today. I think they go after Joe Adams or someone in that nature.

I would also love to see us roll the dice on Vontaze Burfict. If anyone can fix that kids head, its Ray. Adding him along with Upshaw would finally give us that much needed talented youth in our LB corp.

Do you really think Ray wants to mentor a troubled kid, though? I don't know if it's true, but I heard Ray can't stand Jimmy Smith and he doesn't have the troubles Taze has.

IDK about that. His issues at Colorado were because he was being foolish and immature. TJ Hoosh trained with him in Cali during the lockout and said he works hard. Hoosh has always been extremely honest with the media.

Well it was a guy we brought in, but another guard? Can't really say I support the pick and I'm a bit upset with the fact that we didn't grab one of the top talents available

Mike Mayock had great things to say about him, tough, nasty physical interior linemen.

We likely took him to be our future center and compete with KO and Jah at Guard until Birk retires.

Only concern with me is that I believe we could have gotten Gradkowski at a later round in the draft.

From what I can gather he will likely play center in the NFL.

I can't see where Mayock's analysis comes from (though I rarely trust the man in regards to OL)

Smart kid and hard worker but lacks ideal strength and tends to stop moving his feet while using his upper body when he gets beat with short arms = holding penalty machine.

They must see something in him but I see career backup

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1272356

only real scouting report I can find

How can you see 'see' a career backup in someone you haven't seen?

Touche

Based on what I've heard/read I feel he is a career back up.

Short arms + tendency to stop moving your feet + tendency to use your upper body when beat = holding machine to me and certainly isn't a good combination for a center.

I don't mind our draft, but I can't help but be jealous of the Steelers draft.

DeCastro, Adams, Ta'amu > Upshaw, Osemele, Pierce and Gradkowski

Yeah, I'm not really sure I'm sold on anything after Courtney Upshaw at this point. Osemele I can at least get on board with, but the Pierce pick really confused me, and this last one has me scratching my head as well. There's alot of really premiere talent left on the board...Reaching for guards when Phillip Blake, Marvin Jones, Joe Adams, Ta'amu, Devon Wylie, etc on the board isn't my idea of a good draft.

Also passed on Ben Jones, Bobby Massie, Audie Cole, etc...Pretty disappointed in the 3rd/4th rounds so far.

I don't know the Pierce pick make sense to me. The only options the Ravens had at backup RB were Anthony Allen and Damien Berry, a 7th round pick and an UDFA respectively. I wasn't a fan of taking a RB with a higher pick before the draft started but the way the board ended up for the Ravens in the 3rd round I'm fine with it. Pierce has been one of my favorite RB prospects in that range the whole time and he's a nice compliment to Rice. Miller might have been a better prospect but it looks like teams had some concerns over his durability.

Gradkowski is hard to judge. We won't see him on the field (barring injury) for a season or two and it looks like he's going to be groomed for the center spot. He's also a guy that can provide depth at all three interior positions, I believe he had multiple starts at G and C for Delaware. The first time I heard of him was when I looked at the pre-draft visit list for the Ravens. There isn't anything we have access to that would allow us as fans evaluate him so it's hard to really get behind it. I'm not really upset though. It looks like there was a run on centers in the 4th after the Ravens took Gradkowski and I wasn't a big fan of any of the other guys anyways.

Ben Jones started 48 games in the SEC. He's tough as nails and has sound fundamentals and looks to be an instant starter along the offensive line. I'm not sure what's not to like about him. I would have preferred him immensely to the D-II guard based solely on pedigree, if nothing else.

The Pierce over Miller pick also makes no sense to me. If you're intent on spending a Top 100 pick on a RB, he should bring something your current RB doesn't. I don't see anything Pierce gives us that Rice doesn't...Miller would have been a weapon. Pierce is a feature back, something we had absolutely no need for.

Again, outside of Upshaw this draft is very "meh" for me.

The Gradkowski pick is tough for fans to justify because we really don't know much about him. He had been linked to Ozzie and co. through the pre-draft visit and just rumors floating around the web, so I'm not surprised we took him, although it is a lot earlier than I'd prefer.

And for Pierce, he'll be a solid rotational back on early downs, so Raymell is fresher for his touches running and catching. Pierce is a big pile mover, who will take some very meaningful hits away from Rice.

And the Alameda Ta'amu pick by the Steelers really got me jealous.

Again, I'm not really adverse to any of the picks we've made, they just don't seem like Ravens picks. They're very confusing for me, because we're not adhering to the BPA method which has led us to find all those mid round gems that we've had in the past. There's a definite pattern emerging, and it seems as though since Harbaugh has become the HC, our drafting methods have changed drastically and IMO, not for the better.

That's the thing, we as fans don't have anything to base anything on in regards to Gradkowski. The Ravens worked out both Jones and Gradkwoski and they took the player they liked better. I'm going to trust them on this one since they actually have seen both play. From what I did see of Jones I don't think he's anything special, but that's just me.

Like I said before there were reports that teams were concerned about Miller's shoulder(s) holding up in the NFL. You don't take a RB with durability issues. Pierce isn't a split-back like Miller but I don't think the Ravens need that either. That's Rice's role and having a pure runner like Pierce to roate in is nice.
