Stanford needs to run the ball, run the ball and run the ball some more. A bit part of the reason they lost last year was because they don't have the horses defensively to run with Oregon. The more rest and fewer drives the defense has to be the on the field for the better chances Stanford has of winning.
For sure, 2 years ago the controlled the game with Gerhart and held it long enough to keep Oregon off the field. Oregon was scoring at will in that game too, but you can't score if you don't have the ball.
