Good luck Miami. Some of these coaching decisions have me wondering why I didn't submit my resume.
Doesnt hurt to bring the guy in and see what he's all about. Just an interview afterall.

Could be a battle of the Florida teams for Zimmer. Who does he choose? (crosses fingers, praying BUCS)

I'm still wondering why the heck so many people don't want Fewell back with the Giants? Am I missing something?

Well, for the first 15 weeks of the regular season or so, his scheme went completely against the strength of that defense. 3 man rushes and zone coverage was the norm.

And that's not what you do when you have those pass rushers and that secondary. You man up, rush at least 4 with the occassional blitz of more, and trust your safeties to keep everything in front of him.

Fewell's insistence on that scheme nearly cost the Giants at shot at the playoffs until he finally changed it up late in the year. Now the pass rushers are getting into the backfield and opposing QBs are having a hell of a time finding open receivers in the limited time they have.

So while the last 4 weeks or so have been great for the Giants defense (14, 14, 0 and 6 points allowed not counting safeties or TDs scored on drives aided by horrific officiating,) he left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths with how bad they were the majority of the regular season.

I understand what you're saying but I wouldn't say they were awful and couldn't do crap on defense the 1st 15 weeks. I saw inconsistency, but the stout d-line had some injuries mid-season as well.

I wouldn't want to get rid of him while he made the change. I doubt he'd go against what is working right now.

Patiently waiting for the Raiders to rape the Packers coaching staff....

EDIT: Also the Raiders interviewed Saints OC Pete Carmichael.

Tell me about it...

Olsen isn't on the level of a Graham or a Gronk, but he wouldn't be far behind if he plays up to his potential. And seeing those guys and Vernon Davis dominate this weekend...gah.

A 3rd round pick for Greg Olsen...dammit.

I like Olsen, but he's an average starting TE, at best, and was coming into a contract year. They likely weren't going to resign him anyway, so it's not as big of a deal as you make it out to be.

He's significantly better than no TE at all, which is where we're currently at. In an era where the better teams sport great TEs, we eliminate completely.

It wasn't a good trade, but it doesn't really make a difference for this team either way. It's not like we're decent TE away from winning the Superbowl.

They could blow up the entire team at this point.

Cutler staying healthy would have gotten us to the playoffs at least. We win the Raiders, Broncos and Chiefs games with him at QB. Throw in the Vikings game and we were an 11-5 wildcard team right there.

Our problem, as always the last few years, was lack of protection and lack of a pass catching play maker. Olsen might not have been that, but he would have been the surest set of hands we had. He would have brought more to the table than Roy Williams who needs cut. He's slow and drops too many passes.

Mike Tice has already been given the position. We're also looking for a "passing game coordinator" to assist him.

Don't see this at all...A good TE is a big target and is in many ways a QB's best friend besides a tough running game. And speaking of a good running game a TE's blocking is a major contributor to that also.

I'll bet if you ask Jay Cutler (now that Mad Mike is gone) he'll say something to that effect himself.

Martz getting running off high quality TEs is just another example of how the game has passed him by...

That's nice. How many more games would we have won last year with Greg Olsen? One? Maybe?

Olsen's a nice player. We shouldn't have traded him for just a 3rd. But, in the grand scheme of things, trading him isn't even in the top 10 reasons why we had a bad year.

Bucs co-chairman Joel Glazer promised a thorough search and it appears they're comfortable going to Senior Bowl without a coaching staff

Per Jason LaConfora: Former Raiders coach Hue Jackson has been in touch with Rams coach Jeff Fisher by phone regarding O Coordinator position

I thought the Rams hired Brian Schottenheimer?

I think Hue would work wonders with the Rams. Still need some WRs tho.

Adam Shefter reports that the Bucs have asked and been given permission to interview GB Packers QB coach Tom Clements for their head coaching vacancy.

So far, the Bucs have asked for interviews to all of these guys:

-Mike Sherman
-Justin Gray
-Marty Schottenheimer
-Brad Childress
-Wade Phillips (Didn't accept)
-Mike Zimmer
-Rob Chudzinsky
-Joe Philbin
-Tom Clements

We're really taking our time and looking at all possible candidates. I like that.
