One and done or suck it up?
Would you rather go to the playoffs and know you are going to be one and done or suck it up and go 3-13? The playoffs are always nice and you know you have a team to build on or do you want those high draft picks and hope you can pull a Saints like season?

Being in the playoffs is a point of pride and helps the prestige of your organization. If you are a continual failure, you will not attract key FA's and coaching talent. Yes, you can build around a few high draft picks, but no team aspires for mediocrity, at least not intentionally. I would rather be in the playoffs and have real hope at winning than praying for hope going forward with high draft picks.

yeah, playoffs. higher draft picks don't necessarily equate to success, as i'd imagine denver, new england and oakland have proved in various ways.

I'd rather be in the playoffs, but the way the question was worded kind of throws it off. Doesn't a guaranteed one and done in the playoffs kind of defeat the purpose?

not necessarily. i would've taken a one and done last year in a heartbeat just to get cutler the game experience. (as i'd imagine you would've done for young)

I would rather be in the playoffs. It gives the fans more to talk about, and the team just feels better.

Yeah definately. I'd still take the one and done in the playoffs over the bad season, but one of the big drawing points for me would be knowing that you got over the hump of the regular season and are now one of 12 teams that has just as good a shot of going all the way, which is the ultimate goal. Knowing that you'd be one and done does away with that, but I agree that it's still better than a losing season. I think the extra experience, team morale and chemistry that winning breeds is more important than a slightly higher draft pick.

It's not a question: Winning is everything! If you throw away a season to get one stud player you have to remember that there are 21 other position players that make up the team too.

QFT, any fan of a loosing team would do anything for the playoffs even if it is one and done

I'd rather go one and done because then I can assume there would have been some good games during the regular season. I would never want my team to go 3-13 unless KMH was in the draft so I could pick him.

I would choose to make the playoffs. As a Jets fan, this year was 1000x better than the one before.

yeah exactly no one ever knows they will make the playoffs and then not come close the next year. Without question, Ill take playoffs over a high pick any year though. THe best way to build towards future success is current success.

Win as much as possible. As long as a team gets in the playoffs, they have a chance to win it all, not matter how slim that chance may seem.

Playoffs. As a Jags fan, those three seasons of salary cap purgatory with top ten draft picks were pure hell. Sure, we were able to acquire Stroud and Henderson, but draft picks are too risky for me to want one in the top ten.
Not only that, but when you're a small market, expansion team trying to establish itself with the community, losing seasons are the last thing that you want.

One and done is definitly better. I know for Tampa being 1 and done in the playoffs last year and than bombing this season was better than Atlantas 2 years of medicroty during the same period.
