Eli Manning should have not been the MVP

It definitely should have been a defensive lineman. They were the big difference in this game. The entire game they were in Brady's face and if they weren't then they had their hands up and were batting balls down.

The fact that you have to argue that an entire defensive line should have won "MOST VALUABLE PLAYER" shows how weak your argument is.

QBs matter more. They touch the ball every single offensive play and don't rotate, like many other positions, including D-lineman. QBs win MVPs a lot because the nature of the game gives them an advantage.

I actually felt that the dline didn't generate as much pressure as they should have today.

They brought the heat in the 4th quarter, but the first 3 quarters they were pretty average. Brady did a great job of getting the ball out fast and moving around in the pocket.

Brady had a great game this time around. Some unfortunate drops hurt him.

Nobody really stood out too much tbh. Not surprising that by default they gave it to the game winning QB.

I thought Nicks should of won it he had 10 catches for 109 yards Eli had 296 yards with one touchdown okay stats but not great by any means but I guess they are just giving the MVP to the QB no matter what now.

People act like QBs who win SB MVPs are putting up 400 yards and 5 TDs.

When Peyton won the SB MVP, his stats were pedestrian.
If the entire D was deserving of the MVP, then Tom Brady should never ever have been the MVP of any Pats SB win.

Giving the award to someone other than Manning would have amounted to pandering to fans who don't like all the credit that goes to football's glamour position. Many fans want more credit to go to the rough, tough, 'blue-collar' players. The problem with these arguments is that QBs simply have more individual responsibility. They play more snaps than most players, lead the huddle, make adjustments at the line, and are often throwing the ball a majority of the offensive plays. The QB has to remember where every other offensive player is supposed to be while simultaneously trying to figure out what the defense is doing. These arguments seem to happen every time a QB wins Super Bowl MVP, and are more emotional than logical.

It basically had to be Eli. No one on the defense made a lot of huge plays, and no one on offense really stood out the whole game either. Eli had a good game and deserved it.

That's the 2nd time I've felt Tuck should have won it. First time around he had 2.5 sacks and a fumble(I'm pretty sure) and this time he had 2(3 if you count the Safety he caused). Eli did not have the numbers, but the fact that he drove us down the field when it mattered the most and played QB makes him deserving so I'm ok with it.

The great DLine plays were spread too evenly between JPP and Tuck. Nicks had a great day catching the ball but didn't score. Manningham and Cruz had some critical catches but were locked down much of the day. Neither Bradshaw nor Jacobs had amazing days. None of the TEs, LBs, or DBs did anything to stand out. OLmen don't win MVP awards. Manning had to win it because he played well, didn't screw up, and plays the most important position in football.

The argument for Tuck is certainly there. If he doesn't force the safety, then the Pats only need to drive for a FG at the end of the game assuming everything else played out as it did.

Eli deserved it more this time than last. And the fact that no one had a dominating game, it's standard for the winning QB to get it. Although my dark horse would have been Weatherford.

The whole game changes if that happened, it wouldn't just be a two point swing. For all we know the Patriots could have driven the field, gone up 7-0 and coasted for the win.

In all fairness I thought Dominic Rhodes clearly deserved the MVP that game.
