I've never had this problem with ESPN. They are smart enough to know to drop the player for the next day even though they've been locked in for the day.

Put him on the bench for tomorrow. If you keep him slotted in a position, then yeah, you have to make sure you drop him before his team plays. If he's on your bench, then you can drop him even after his game starts.

You can ADD a player from the free agent list whose game that day has started, but you can't DROP a player from your current roster once their game has locked for that day, unless they are on the DL.

I don't see how that's an issue. If you were allowed to drop players after their game has started, then you'd have more than 30 roster players at your disposal on one day.
