Patrick Edwards, WR, Houston

What are everybody's thoughts this guy? He is a super-super senior who had a great year at Houston, taking full advantage of the pass happy system and record setting college quarterback. He doesn't have impressive size (5'10, 179), but after seeing him play his senior year and during the Senior Bowl I see a player who has the ability to be very dangerous in the slot. Edwards gets off the line better than any of the smaller receivers in the draft. He is incredibly quick an slippery, even a top rated CB like Stephen Gilmore couldn't get his hands on him during practice. If healthy, Edwards can be a Welker-esque type of short yardage threat.

I'm very interested to hear everybody elses thoughts on him and maybe hear exactly why some analysts don't even include him in their Top 50 receivers. If it is injury concerns it makes total sense, but if it is due to his talent, then I just don't understand.

I think he's a late round steal. Good hands, good route runner, good production.

I'm not sure he has the speed or quickness needed for his size, which is why the scouts seem to like guys like TY Hilton a little more.

Someone will get a steal on him because of his poor 40 time at UH pro day (4.5). He ran a 4.3 at last years UH junior day.

Watching Case Keenum's tape, it became clear to me very quickly that he wasn't the best pro prospect in Houston's passing game.

As I pointed out in another thread, that video Spaceboy1 posted is of Edwards beating a Penn State safety that ran a 4.65 coming out of high school, which was obviously a time that was inflated.

Edwards will be an NFL nobody.

That video showed Edwards doing nothing but body catching the ball. I didn't see too much of that on the previous tape I saw of him but the sheer fact that he did it that often is very worrisome and most likely why many scouts aren't so high on him.

I finally did your work for you because you won't stop blabbing about his junior day 40. ProFootball Weekly has his junior day time as a 4.45. Your myth is proven untrue. Will you let it go now?
