You will find a tonne of Bucs fans on the Pewter Report message board absolutely love the idea of landing Kuechly here.

I'm not incredibly fond of the idea from a positional view point, but it would certainly help shore up our porous run defense.

This is the stage in the draft when anyone can say anything and it'll get some sort of media attention. Love it.

The majority of stuff the analysts are saying is speculation.

Quote:
Joe Philbin: We haven’t discussed where Tannehill should go

The smokescreen is an accepted part of communications from coaches and general managers in the days and weeks leading up to the draft.

We know they’re fudging the truth, they know we know they’re fudging the truth and everyone goes along because it’s all part of the game. To work, though, the smokescreen has to be somewhat believable or the whole thing just becomes ridiculous. Dolphins coach Joe Philbin is experiencing the rodeo for the first time from the big chair and some comments he made about Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill on Tuesday make you hope that he gets a little better at it in the future.

“We’ve talked obviously a lot,” Philbin said, via Mike Beradino of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “We’ve had draft meetings. We’ve discussed him as an individual. We’ve watched his film. Obviously Mike [Sherman] has been around Ryan for a long, long time, but it wasn’t like we sat around and said, ‘OK, what about him at eight?’”

Really? Not once in all of these discussions about Tannehill was there a moment when someone asked the room if it made sense to actually draft him?

It’s starting to feel like the Dolphins are protesting a bit too much whenever Tannehill’s name comes up in discussion. Whether or not the decree is coming from the owner’s box about drafting Tannehill, there’s some reason why the Dolphins are working so hard to send a message that Tannehill isn’t the apple of their eye.
Even before I read the article I knew where it was heading. There is absolutely NO way that you don't discuss Tannehill at 8 when your starting QB is David Garrard. I feel like they're trying too hard to act nonchalant and disinterested in the whole situation, making me think they're actually very interested in him and nervous that someone would move up ahead to #7 or so. Just my 2 cents

Don't get me wrong, I love Kuechly, but I'm not sure any 4-3 ILB is worth the #5 overall pick. Last time I remember one going this high is AJ Hawk, we all saw how that turned out (steroids didn't help either).

I'm a huge fan of Kuechly, but #5 overall is way too high.

I think so too...whoever McShay has in his ear, Minnesota has to be loving that he's buying into the info and possibly creating some interest in teams to move up

Are CBs all that important in a cover-2 scheme? If not, I can't see why they would take Claiborne over a guy who would protect their potential franchise quarterback for the next 10 years

I'm actually shocked how many people are buying into the late smokescreen. It screams trade down. If a trade isn't made it will be Kalil and it will look ever more obvious after the fact.

Why would you ever trust McShay? They have a reliable source of information at ESPN and his name is Adam Schefter.

Yeah, McShay hasn't "reported" anything regarding picks 3-5, he simply changed his mock to reflect the most recent, probably false rumors. He even said it might change again before the draft but for now he's taking the bait. Guy definitely gets paid to thicken smokescreens for teams because someone in his position shouldn't be so naive.
