For those of you who think Trent Richardson is the best RB prospect since AD, Jon Gruden compared Richardson's running style and ability to Marshawn Lynch, except more physical.

He's probably going top 5-8, but I think you can replicate his production with other RBs in this draft.

People are talking like he's a Bo Jackson/Earl Campbell type prospect, and he's not.

I agree with this 100 times over, and a slightly better Marshawn Lynch sounds about right.

Can anybody tell me how late day three should end?

Agreed 100%. He's a damned good RB prospect, but I feel it's becoming slightly overrated and overhyped. And, he doesn't blow me away as a prospect much like Darren McFadden did as a RB prospect either.

I don't think there is any scenario that would surprise me this year. Honestly. I've gone through so many permutations. I really don't think I'll be surprised with any pick or any trade. All the potential shockers have already been named. The guys sneaking up into the first (Weeden, Irvin, Boykin, Trumaine Johnson etc.). None of it is going to surprise me. Dallas moving. Seattle moving.

Already 6 AM In CA & no rd. 1 trades yet? I wanted trades to roll around in my consciousness while I hit the fwy to work. My disappointment is boundless.

A source tells the Buffalo News that the Bills' interest in trading up for USC LT Matt Kalil is "legitimate," and gives the team a "good chance" to secure this year's top offensive tackle.
NFL Network's Charley Casserly reported this first last night, and it has also been confirmed by Profootballtalk.com. In this scenario, the Bills would wait for the Vikings to go on the clock at three to get serious about trade discussions. Buffalo is willing to surrender pick Nos. 10 and 41 in order to move up for Kalil. Minnesota may ask for a late-round "sweetener," but this looks like a draft-day deal that has strong potential to happen.

Source: Buffalo News

Casserly had the Julio trade correct last year. Looks like Speilman might get what he wants. Question is, if the Bills call the Vikings bluff, can they sit back and hope that either Minny trades with TB or STL OR that they take Claiborne. This would allow BUF to trade up to 5 or 6 and get Kalil and not all the way up to 3.

It might go all the way down to the wire. Right now, odds are that the No. 3 pick will be made by TB, STL, CLE or BUF.

Swapping picks with the Bills(3rd to 10th) for only the price of a 2nd rounder (41st) doesn't seem like good value for the Vikes.

They move down, get an extra pick, and get the guy who they have at #1 for wideouts (Floyd).

At least it's something.

It's a Minnesota Vikings tradition to d*ck things up on draft day.

They somehow always find a way.......

It's not. It's terrible value. If they make this trade, I will actively march on the capitol demanding that the Vikings move far away from Minnesota.

And I'm not even a Vikings fan.

Local rumor on the Jaguars from a pretty good source:

-Jags will take Blackmon if he is there.

-Jags will not take Gilmore at the #7.

-Jags turned down an offer by a team looking to trade up before the draft because they want to see if Blackmon makes it to the #7.

-The Jags think there is a good chance they will be able to trade down if they do not like the board when on the clock.

-If the top 6 go as predicted and they cannot trade down they will take Cox or Ingram.

If the Bills move up for Kalil there is a very good chance the Cowboys end up with Barron. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but 11-13 teams don't really have the strongest case for jumping on him if he's there. Only reason I'm somewhat on board is because how terrible are safeties are, and have been since Darren Woodson left, and past him there is no sure thing to land a starting caliber safety in the draft.

We still need 2 safeties anyway, so while he's not my favorite pick if he makes it I'd be on board with securing a huge upgrade at a starting position and position of need for a long time.

Just to add to it, the Jaguars have a connection. OSU's offensive coordinator was the Jaguars WRs coach from 07-09, Todd Monken. He told a Jacksonville writer that the Jags sent a large group of people to get info on Blackmon. This was reported two days ago.

Cox would make the most sense as BPA, but do the Jags really need another DT?

The Monken connection is a big deal because many people in the Jags organization respect his opinion greatly, especially on wide receivers.

From the same source:

The Jags are considering Cox because they think he is a strong candidate for BAP. Knighton is injured and his recovery could take longer than expected. Both those seem obvious but the third thing I was told surprised me a little. The Jags are concerned that they are in a no win situation with Knighton. They think that if he does recover and have a big year he is likely to want to test free agency. There is little confidence that they will be able to sign him if he goes off in 2012.

Knighton also isn't an ideal third-down DT.

And Fletcher has the athleticism to play LE.

You can never have too many DL.

You can never have too many DL.
Recently on a local radio show they asked Tony Boselli why the Jaguars would consider Cox at the #7. He answered that never in the history of the NFL has a team in December said, "You know, we just have too many good defensive linemen."

When does anyone say that about any position?

They think that if he does recover and have a big year he is likely to want to test free agency. There is little confidence that they will be able to sign him if he goes off in 2012.
thanks, this makes sense. i always try to look and see who the free agents that are gonna be un-resignable are for the following year, especially when predicting 2nd round picks or later. this could be a big factor into the jags' pick.

I thought for a while the Jaguars were leaning towards Poe because of Knighton's injury on top of the fact he only has a one year contract. Cox doesn't surprise me.

I still think they are very high on Gilmore though. Don't rule that out. Jags love high character guys, and Gilmore is a class act.
