They think that if he does recover and have a big year he is likely to want to test free agency. There is little confidence that they will be able to sign him if he goes off in 2012.

thanks, this makes sense. i always try to look and see who the free agents that are gonna be un-resignable are for the following year, especially when predicting 2nd round picks or later. this could be a big factor into the jags' pick.

I thought for a while the Jaguars were leaning towards Poe because of Knighton's injury on top of the fact he only has a one year contract. Cox doesn't surprise me.
I still think they are very high on Gilmore though. Don't rule that out. Jags love high character guys, and Gilmore is a class act.

Bruce Irvin might have a promise from the Niners at 30.

From LaCanfora...

Very quietly, the Kansas City Chiefs have done a lot of work on receivers, and I hear they love Michael Floyd. I don't see Floyd getting beyond the 11th or 12th spot in this draft. Watch for Arizona to make a move. The Cards believe he is special and could form a ridiculous tandem with Larry Fitzgerald. If he's there around 10, Arizona is primed to move up.
Blackmon, at worst, ends up at No. 7. People I talk to are convinced the Jags are sold on him (of course, if he's gone, and given Floyd's off-field issues -- character matters infinitely in Jacksonville -- then the Jags could have a quandary). And Kendall Wright is very hot as well. Again, Kansas City at 11 is in consideration. Everyone is putting the Jets with a pass rusher, and it makes sense, but Wright is someone the Jets have paid a lot of attention to as well. Regardless, I see three receivers in the top half of the first round.

I would be absolutely shocked if the Chiefs took Floyd if he were there at #11...

As would I - especially after investing a 1st rounder in Baldwin last year. Bowe/Baldwin/Floyd is a damned good trio on paper, but to me probably wouldn't be the best move IMO.

People are talking like he's a Bo Jackson/Earl Campbell type prospect, and he's not.

I'd be comfortable with an Emmitt Smith comparison and that probably works best with a Troy Aikman and a Michael Irvin around him. That isnt going to be found in places like Tampa and Cleveland.

I think the Emmitt Smith comparison works better for his former mate Mark Ingram IMO. I really like the Marshawn Lynch comparison for Richardson personally.

So if you take a wr there what do you do at the top of the 2nd? I'd take Kalil at #6 and then a Hill or Wright in the next round.

The New England Patriots have contacted Seattle about their #12 overall pick. It appears they are trying to move up for Mark Barron if he is available.
Also, another report just dropped said that Minnesota wants Claiborne with that pick.

If Floyd is drafted by KC, Bowe is gone. It'd be Floyd/Breaston/Baldwin. A lot less intimidating, on paper at least.

Matthew Jones informs me that they may be interested in moving up for Chandler Jones. He'd be a good fit in the Pats' system.

This smokescreen reeks with the odor of dung.

eh...as long as they come away with Richardson and a WR before him it wouldn't be that big a deal. They should just stay put in the second and draft Weeden, I cannot see why he would not be there.

I really can't see what's so great about Weeden that Cousins doesn't have in his game.

Well Weeden is 28 so that means he's ready to start day one. From all that experience and how mature he is, obviously.

I wish Minnesota would just stop all this talk and take Kalil. They are making me nervous.
