Default Is Alshon Jeffery a Top 10 pick?

If you were a team and you absolutely felt 100% comfortable that Alshon's "weight issues" are behind him would you select him in the top 10?

That's my #1 shocker so far, when Jeffery goes top 10.

Top 10 of which round?? Might think about it in the fourth - but wouldn't touch him. Out muscled by 5'11" 185 lb Casey Hayward about says it all.

Jeffery cannot get seperation in college but wins out against college CB's in jump balls much the same way Mike Williams did at USC. However, against pro CB's that may not translate very well. He is at best an early 2nd rounder, nobody will touch him in round 1. Top 10 would be a joke and has zero possibility of happening.

Wasn't the exact same thing said about Larry Fitzgerald?

Big hands, acrobatic guy. Makes some really spectacular plays. I'm more concerned about his personal drive and motivation to succeed at the next level. Not even going to mention the guys weight issues (a la Mike Williams), but he just doesn't have any tenacity. With his size he should be a load to take down, but I've never seen the guy break a single tackle.

No. Definitely not. Larry Fitzgerald was one of the best WR prospects ever out of college. Even Scott Wright had his evaluation done and couldn't find a single sizable weakness.

Jeffery gets after it once the ball is snapped. I don't question his effort. But he needs to refine his route running skills and learn how to set up DBs. Basically Alshon does a little shake at the LOS and then tries to smoke past a corner.

He's not a top 10 type prospect IMO, but he should be a starter in the NFL. Several teams WR corps would be immediately upgraded with the addition of jeffery.

I just see too much of Mike Williams and Rashaun Woods in this guy. I've gotta peg him as a bust. Especially if someone snags him in round 1.

When I saw this thread I thought it was something from a year ago or something like that. Alshon Jeffery will not be a first rounder...

I don't understand this Mike Williams comparison. It's just foolish. How are they a like?

Alshon had a better YPC in college, was a better deep threat, had better hands, better leaping ability.....Oh the picture, well yeah obviously he's Mike Williams 2.0

What's the difference from last year to this year when evaluating him? Could no one see his "lack of seperation skills" last year when everyone was saying he's a top 10 selection?

Truth is everyone saw a picture and instantly started comparing him to Mike Williams and then his play last year while having inconsistency at Quarterback and with Lattimore getting hurt having a pretty weak run game, everyone started freaking out and dropping him on their big boards.

The Larry Fitzgerald comparison isn't as crazy as some think.

Larry Fitzgerald is one of the greatest wide receivers to ever play the game of football.

The Larry Fitzgerald comparison is crazy.

Now he is sure, but I'm comparing the two when Larry was coming out of Pitt.

I wasn't even a fan of Jeffery's going into the season, so I haven't ever seen the "unlimited" potential in him that some people did. What I see when I see Jeffery is a number 3 wideout who can be a very good RZ target. I don't care what his forty is, he looked slow this season. How can you let yourself go and be 233 lbs when you're playing for a job? Jeffery just screams bust to me, I don't think I'd touch him in the first three rounds to be honest.

Just like when Nicks gained 15 pounds from the combine to his pro day.

Before the season I saw a chance for him to be a top 10 pick, now he's going to be in the late1st- mid2nd range. Still has a chance to be a very good WR, not elite like some projected.

The difference is Nicks had a great final season in college and a heroic bowl game. Jeffrey had a bad season. I'm sure QB play factors in. But he is a risk, for sure.

Larry Fitzgerald had 22 TDs his sophomore year. Alston had 23 over three seasons. It is crazy.

Fella, it's clear you have a serious hard on for Alshon Jeffery, and that's okay! You can route for him no matter where he gets drafted. Heck, maybe even the Rams take a flyer on him in the 2nd round? In your mind, that's great value AND addresses a need, right? Why are you so up in the air about this guy?

There's no comparison here to Larry Fitzgerald. I'm not sure where you were when Fitzgerald got drafted, but he was the Heisman trophy winner that year and I don't care what the vote said. He got screwed because he was a RS Sophomore. Fitzgerald was, and still is, one of the most complete football players I've ever seen.

Alshon Jeffery runs in the 4.50-4.55 range, which is the ONLY likeness to Larry Fitzgerald. Mike Williams, in College, was the same guy. He was a tall, athletic football player when he was motivated. He dominated most defensive backs just based on his vertical ability alone. He had big hands just like Jeffrey does, and was prone to taking plays off completely.

I don't know if you watched the guy this year, or if you've been sleeping for the last twelve months, but this guy is LAZY. Go back and watch the Vanderbilt game or the Tennessee game. After the snap, the guy stands around and looks to block nobody on run plays. Just takes the play completely off. He's never broken a significant tackle attempt. He's had streaks of games that've gone 2-3 games long where he hasn't shown up. 2 or 3 catches a game with less than 50 yards and no TD's just isn't getting it done.

Only comparison? lol

Alshon Jeffery - 6'3 213, 4.51 forty, 6.78 3-cone, 10'2 broad, 36.5 vert. and 4.09 short shuttle

Larry Fitzgerald - 6'3 225 (plays at 215 now) 4.53 forty, 6.94 3-cone, 10'1 broad, 35 vert. and 4.28 short shuttle

Both have questionable seperation skills, great body control, elite hands, elite at high pointing the ball, both know how to use their body to block out defenders, both had questionable work ethic coming out, didn't Larry play around 230? Both are pretty fluid for being bigger receivers, and both have Deceptive speed.

and doesn't every receiver have those games? Julio Jones had 5 games his Junior year where he had less than 50 yards receiving.

Alright...you win, I can't compete with your deliriousness anymore.

Alshon Jeffery > Larry Fitzgerald
