If Dolphins Dont Pick Tannehill at 8, Where Does He Go?
It's widely assumed that Tannehill will go to Cleveland at 4, or Dolphins at 8, or someone will trade up for him. Lets say trades dont happen, Cleveland passes on him, and the Dolphins pass on him...which is totally plausable.
Where does he go then? there are tons of QB need teams after the Dolphins.
Buffalo - Wouldnt call them QB needy, but is Fitzpatrick "the guy" ? plus it would be an ideal situation because there would be no need to rush Tannehill to start.
KC - Cassell is a solid QB, but again, is he "the guy" ?
Seahawks - They just signed Matt Flynn, but it was too a pretty cheap deal that doesnt tie their hands much. Another ideal situation because Tannehill could sit for a while and develop.
Cardinals - Come on, Skelton and Kolb?
Eagles - Andy Reid has worked magic witih much less talented QB's than Tannehill
Jets - Competition for Sanchez?
Browns again at 22 - If Tannehill was to drop this far, I cant see them not picking him here.

Tannehill
Looks like it's pretty much a forgone conclusion at this point that someone trades up to the #3 pick and takes Tannehill. I'm not sold on him and i'm also not a paid scout. He seems like a big project to me.

Same here, I've tried and tried to talk myself into him being a 1st rounder....but I just dont see it.
In my opinon, the odds say 1 of the top 3 QB's will go bust. My $$$ is on Tannehill.
But at the end of the day he is going to get drafted high in the QB League.

I think KC will pass, give Cassell another year with a new OC that he gets along with much better.
Arizona, IMO, will jump all over him. Agreed Kolb and Skelton are hardly QBs of the future. And Tannehill isn't exactly ready to go so having Kolb to serve as a adequate albiet overpaid buffer could really help his devleopment, a la Hasselbeck and Jake Locker.

The Chiefs could very well take him if there.

Does anyone remember the crowd's reaction when Miami passed on Brady Quinn in 2007? A big, unanimous "Ooohhhhh." Partially because they passed on Quinn, partially because they took Teddy Ginn Jr. That's why you don't put a ginger in your front office.
I remember Suzy Colbert coming on, explaining that after Miami picked, Brady Quinn was escorted behind the scenes at the draft. Basically so he could maintain his dignity while he cried about being a bust before he was even drafted.
Big, long winded story. But I get the feeling that we'll be seeing Suzy with a similar story on draft day 2012.
There was not 1 decent QB prospect in that entire draft. After Luck and RGIII, this draft looks very similar.

If he falls to 11 I hope the Chiefs take a long look at him. I love Ryan Tannehill more than anyone but YFS. I'd be ecstatic for him to be on the Chiefs. We're a good QB away from being a serious contender year in and year out, and it's obvious the Chiefs feel the same way: We tried to get Peyton and we've interviewed pretty much every QB prospect to come out this year.
Tannehill is my #1 pick for the Chiefs if he's there, but he probably won't be.

Tannehill is garbage! C'mon you guys, seriously? Who has ever been a more obvious bust than him? Kansas City hasn't won a Superbowl since 1969, surely fans can wait 1 more year for a solid QB prospect to come around. Everything anyone can say about this guy is 20% evidence and 80% speculation.

Seattle didn't pay that much for Flynn. They could easily take on another QB and have a big competition.

If there is one person whom knows less about QBing than an average forum member, it's Brian Billick.

Yeah because he's not a member of the Bill Walsh coaching tree or had a 15-1 season as offensive coordinator in one of the NFL's most productive offenses of all time, or anything.

The Dolphins won't pass on Tannehill, so the only way he doesn't end up in Miami is if a team trades up for him. Chiefs, Seahawks, Eagles and Cleveland from 22 are the only teams I see that would potentially workout a deal for Tannehill.

QB: Sanchez
FB/QB: Tebow
QB/WR: Tannehill
RB/QB: Tomlinson
A new breed of offense.

Have you seen some of the utter trash he's had at QB?
---------------
Tannehill is going to shock some people when he gets receivers that can catch. Fuller and Askew might as well have bricks instead of hands. Fuller makes the occassional highlight catch, but the vast majority of balls that target him are drops.
The best receivers on that team are Nwachukwu and Swope. By far.

Blaine gabbert and Christian ponder were guaranteed busts last year. Can't believe those Garbo QBs were taken so early.
Tannehill is Garbo. I Really hope that the browns do not take him. no idea why an otherwise intelligent vidae likes him.

A team would trade up for him, so why ignore the most reasonable option? If you wanna talk about Tannehill falling past 8 it becomes who trades up for him and when. The kid's a good prospect, like Locker last year and Cutler before them not being a dominant winner in college doesn't prevent a guy from becoming an excellent QB in the NFL.
Kid's got a lot to work with and shown a lot of good things. He's new to the position so making him more consistent is going to be the issue, but this isn't Blaine Gabbert who you need to teach where his balls are or Tim Tebow you need to teach how to throw the ball. With Tannehill it's all just a matter of getting him to do the things he's already shown he can do well, consistently. If he lands with a reasonably good coaching staff he could end up an excellent QB.

The Rugby Offense, re-inventing the lateral. I like it although it would mess with the whole Tebow taking over for Sanchez thing that's going on.

QB's in the draft are becoming a joke almost. Tannehil at #3? I just don't see why he should be drafted so high.

Say what you want about Mike Freeman from CBSsports, but I think this piece sums up the legitimate concerns about Tannehill as a Top-10 prospect pretty well: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/1...adness-sets-in
With that being said, I cant imagine him slipping by Miami at #8, and if that should happend, no way he is getting by Cards at #13.

Because he has shown flashes of elite play, has great tools, a good head on his shoulders and most importantly of all, you no longer need to give high draft picks big contracts so that if he bust all you did was waste a pick with practically no financial penalty, but if he hits you have your franchise QB. If Tannehill can finally get some good coaching at the NFL level and becomes more consistent with that improved coaching, he will be a franchise QB. *shrug* not sure what's so complicated, if you don't get it check out the way NBA teams draft Centers.

I for one don't expect the Chiefs to take Tannehill. However, if they do it will be bittersweet. Sweet, because it will mean Pioli is ready to move on from Cassel. Bitter, because Tannehill will bust and prevent the Chiefs from going QB for another 4-6 years.

You wont see him fall far. Maybe into the 20s. But he's not going to fall from the top 8.

So is Tannehill the Gabbert of this year's draft?

I wouldn't go that far. I think Ponder is going to develop into a solid qb.
