ESPN, NFL Network Agree Not to Tweet 1st Round Picks Early
Source:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/-nf...r_a3&eref=sihp
Seems like this only applies for the first two rounds.

They will still spoil picks this year, it will just be a bit less obvious.

I'm apparently the only person who isn't annoyed when they spoil picks.

I'm with you. I don't need Roger Goodell to be the first one to tell me who is being picked.

This is a good decision. I just don't understand why they need to spoil the picks. Are there people out there who want to know the picks before they're announced? I imagine even those people who don't care if the picks are spoiled or not, are not exactly disappointed with this news.

I don't mind if they are tweeted out because I can choose to ignore that. When Berman used to spoil every pick it annoyed me since I didn't really have a choice in the matter (as I didn't have NFL network).

I agree, seeing the guy get the phone call or a host saying it 30 seconds before it's announced is slightly annoying to me, but tweeting them out doesn't bother me at all.

I am as it kinda takes the suspense of the pick unveiling away. I wanna see the player's reaction AFTER the announcement.
I don't think the fans in attendance get spoiled or shown this, which is why their reaction seems more apparent. I wanna share that same reaction, for better or for worse.

I don't care for suspense. I also open my Christmas presents before Christmas.
But those of us who want to know the picks ASAP can easily get that information on twitter or in chat rooms other than this one.

It might be the Jet fan in me, but everyone loves to see us mad lol. We're gonna have some passionate fans in this 1st round given everything.

I personally liked having the picks tipped. I used to rely on twitter when I had no other outlet, or having Twitter announce the picks meant I didn't have to use one of the major networks for coverage (I was on Shane's draft stream for the most part of it)
If they ax the tweeting, but keep the phone calls, it's just going to be more counter-productive IMO.

ESPN will rerun the picks it happens every year. Just stick to NFL Network on follow online.

This is why you just go to the Shane P. Hallam stream and chat where those who tip picks get kicked out! Mute the TV!

I'm not sure I would've become the draft fanatic I am today if ESPN would have spoiled the picks like they started doing in the mid 2000s when they started putting a camera in the living room of every potential first round pick. The whole suspense of it all just made the draft seem so epic when I was a kid. I'd like to think my e-mail campaign from 2008 on had something to do with this.

I'll be there. Also, I just noticed that you should probably change your sig. Wallace is no longer a Steeler.

I'm glad they're making the change. I like to be surprised. What's the point of watching if you already know what's going to happen?

I wasn't annoyed either, I liked seeing the early emotion of the guy being picked, after all, is 30 seconds all that important.
If they are calling anyways, I want to see the emotion, not the after effect when the shock has died down.

So watching the phone call carried no surprises, and you got to see all the emotion which will wane as we only get to see the event after the emotions have died down. I'll take watching the emotion anytime.

Definitely takes the fun out of it when they show the guys on the phone but it's almost become a right of passage.

They still will tip the picks. Its not outright but they make it pretty obvious. I like the suspense for the moment of them announcing it.
