Three Texas Longhorn players were recently arrested and charged with Class C Misdemeanors ( failure to obey a lawful order), including DE Alex Okafor and S Kenny Vacarro who are two of the top seniors at their respective positions for the 2013 NFL Draft:

College football players need to stop getting arrested. I realize as young black males in places like Texas there will be bs, but it's entirely doable.

I don't think it has too much to do with that. Montee Ball was a Heisman finalist and just got arrested in the city where he plays which just so happens to be one of the most liberal cities in the counrty. Not trying to start a debate, but people of all walks of life will do stupid **** sometimes.

Gene is a huge believer in character, for sure.
But we did draft Justin Blackmon, who has a single DUI in his past.

Blackmon's DUI is a freaking joke. I doubt that any NFL teams docked him for that.

They were probably drunk, but really? They got arrested for not leaving a club? Am i the only one that that sounds kinda stupid to? The officers detained them for disobeying a legal order or something like that (i forget the terminology). That really shouldn't hurt their stock much if at all IMO.

Maybe now that he's cleaned out the locker room he was happy to take a chance on one bad character guy.

It was a small joke but this situation doesn't bring up any red flags for me. Character concerns are overblown time and time again.

If this happens to be the only poor conduct of any sort on these players' resumes then it's a non-issue

You might agree with me that a lot of this stuff goes along with being of college age. For me at least it's rather easy to differentiate between being a bad apple and just doing something stupid.

It's for the Mifflin Block Party, they'd arrest anyone who steps an inch on public property while drinking/drunk, just to try to keep people in line

To think that only about 25 years ago, none of this stuff would have even made it into he newspapers, it all would have been covered up by their colleges or pro teams and never seen the light of day no matter what the players did. Personally, I liked it a lot better not knowing the personal lives of athletes so I could just enjoy what they did on the playing field.
