See I didn't find it racist, but I also didn't find it funny. Geographical humor at its worst or best. I don't think there is good geographical humor, except Lake Titicaca.

I don't think it was racist as much as it was completely insensitive. We live in a PC world, you can't be saying stuff like that right before the Olympics.

Pretty accurate there. Bolt just seems off and his performances lately seem to prove that (at least time wise). A total dark horse (haha) for the 100 is Christophe Lemaitre of France. Him winning the 200 is more likely.

I feel bad that I only give a **** about basketball and swimming. Does anyone have suggestions for other sports besides soccer that I should check out? I respect the athleticism and endurance required for soccer and all, but watching it just isn't ******* for me.

I'd almost say watch out for Wallace Spearmon as well in the 200m. He started the season off so great at Drake Relays, so I still think we can see him get dangerously close to his PR of 19.65. I always thought he was the most underrated sprinter of the past decade.

Lemaitre winning would be awesome but it would also be as awkward watching people deal with it as it was when Jeremy Lin first came out.

Some other things for all of you watch for, if you are a jingoistic American who only roots for Americans. (I commit treason annually at the Olympics....only root for the flashiest athletes regardless of nation; I hate when human drones do well.)

In the 800m, Kenyan David Rudisha is really, really freakin' good. I'm telling you that if you know-nothing about the 800....you'll know that Rudisha is once-in-a-generation. He can go sub-1:40 which would probably be the most mind-warping event to ever happen.

Now Americans are weak at distance running compared to the African nations, the last time someone from the US won a medal in >400 was....a long time ago (Frank Shorter in the 70s won the last gold for the US in the marathon).

However, Nick Symmonds in the 800m, has an outside shot at getting a bronze. Symmonds has been going head-to-head with USATF for the longest time (USATF is a horrid institution) and has one of those permanent chips on their shoulder since he didn't get a scholarship out of HS. Symmonds is also dating Paris Hilton which says a lot about him. Still, he's got a tremendous amount of talent but has always choked at the big races. Duane Solomon, sponsorless at the Trials, advanced to the Olympics too. He's been on a roll lately but still, lack of big-race experience?

In the 1500m, Matt Centrowitz Jr. shocked everyone when he took bronze at Worlds. He would forego his SR. season at Oregon and sort of disappeared with injuries until the Trials really. He's got a vicious kick too and got a medal last time...so....

In the 5k, Bernard Lagat is still great. 37 years old, and is in his second Olympiad for America. He's a favorite, but you know...old as hell. Lopez Lomong dropped a deadly kick to qualify for the Trials and his pure speed could be a wonder in the 5k. Galen Rupp....more to come in a second.

In the 10,000m; Galen F. Rupp is the best distance runner born and raised in the US since Prefontaine. He has the capability of going sub-26:40 and that would be the biggest step forward for American distance running ever. He's worked on his speed, and man; he's got the chance to do something special here. Dathan Ritzenhein is part of the legendary class of 2001 and after injuries for most of the past 10 years; he's looking good again. He was our top guy at the marathon in Beijing and followed up 2008 with a superb 2009. Matt Tegenkamp rounds it out.

In the steeplechase, Evan Jager set the American record just last week. Donn Cabral of Princeton is the reigning NCAA champion. The Kenyans DOMINATE this one more than most events, but Jager has a shot.

In the marathon...well, it's Ryan Hall again. Hall, coached by a man named "God", is....a little.....Tebow-y but worse. Still, he's an insane talent (from the class of '01) and has looked really good as of late. He could be great, and has been the best Marathoner born and raised in the US in a long time. Meb Keflzeghi, winner of the NYC marathon a couple years back, is aging but won the US Olympic Trials. He's sponsored by Skechers, but don't let that fool you; he could find a spot in the top-8. Abdi somehow made it but is no threat.

Yes, I wait for these games to drop some expertise.

Meb Keflezighi won the silver in 2004. I'm not sure he counts. He runs for the USA but he was born in Eritrea.

Swimming should be great this year, especially the relays which are usually a great Aussie-US rivalry. I think our 4x100 team led by James Magnussen (the guy everyone is Australia is expecting to dominate his events) should be able to beat the US this time.

I've been bored, so I am going to write about a weird sport every other day. I started with Team Handball. It's actually been around since pre-WWII.

Yeah, he does count; I was suggesting on the track though (Shorter was just a fun fact ahaha) but yes you are right.

I only care for swimming and athletics...though I always get wrapped up in cycling.

I just find basketball to be lame internationally because I have to hear LeBron or other people go "I'm doing this for my COUNTRY...not for myself", which I always find to be a laughably BS thing. I mean, that goes for every single Olympian in general but still...

Wahh 9.4's? No way, with his back Bolt will have to have a breakout to run sub 9.7, Blake is consistent he will take the double if Bolt isn't at least 80%, Tyson and Gatlin will battle to try to get on the podium and Spearmon in the 200, I will thoroughly enjoy Asafa Powell winning the heats and choking in the finals. Too bad Walter Dix got injured because he was a threat to medal in both events.

I get way too into the Olympics. Set my alarm to get up at like 3-4 AM to watch the live basketball games or soccer matches.

I usually watch the team sporting events, swimming, Athletics/track and field, tennis, wrestling, boxing, and gymnastics

the other stuff is usually on at like....2 AM or whatever
