Trent Richardson is getting a balky knee (which has kept him out of training camp so far) checked out by Dr. James Andrews. That's never a good sign.

I just had a Ki-Jana Carter flashback.

Wtf did I just read. I hope that you are joking. I'm just going to go with that.

Well, hopefully it's not that bad. But for him to be starting up with the injuries before ever even stepping on an NFL field is a bad, bad sign.

Brownies might want to re think trying to run him into the ground year 1 because all this talk about him being a workhorse and a threat to lead the league in touches just isn't going to end up well for his career after these knee scopes.

I'm sure it's not that bad, but I've haven't heard many stories of somebody being sent to Andrews and returning to the team with particularly good news.

A lot of people saw injuries as a major hurdle for Richardson with how he plays plus his expected workload, but I don't think anyone saw it starting like this. Hopefully he's alright.

Richardson is going to have arthroscopic surgery on the knee to clean up loose cartilage. Hopes to be back by Week 1 of the regular season.
Not as bad as it could be, but definitely not a good thing.

That a legit fear. With how "beast" he is, it is quite possible that his body will begin to breakdown and deteriorate, ala Courtney Brown.

Brody Eldridge and Austin Pettis will both be suspended for testing positive for PEDs. If it's Adderall, yet again, I think something bigger needs to be done. Like I said before, if I'm a player and I'm taking it legally with a prescription, I'm stopping just in case.
Just seems like such an odd thing since it's been around for a while and this offseason is really the first we've seen a major crackdown on it. Unfortunately, all that stuff is confidential so we'll never know the details unless the player spills it.

It makes you wonder though...is it really adderall? Or is adderall being used as a masking agent?

That's the reason I think it's on the banned substance list and why they're being suspended under the PEDs policy instead of the substance abuse policy.
Still though, there is an underlying problem here in that lots of people take legally prescribed Aderrall, and we've seen two cases where the league later reduced suspensions for players originally suspended for it.
There is a lot of inconsistency with it and I think the league should clear it up. But like I said, since all the PED/Substance Abuse stuff is confidential, nothing will come out about it unless the players themselves talk...and then you have no way of knowing if they're telling the truth or just trying to spin the story.

People with an ADHD diagnosis are protected under the Americans With Disabilities Act. I'm guessing that language in the new CBA allows players to be suspended for Adderall use when they previously couldn't have been. The first round of suspensions this season would be players who tested positive last season, and already went through the appeals process.
I also wouldn't be a bit surprised if it's being used as a masking agent or a gameday stimulant. I don't know very many adults who still take ADHD medication, but it seems to be common in the NFL.

I don't know if you can truly consider them "adults" but I knew so, so, SO many people in college who took it. Either prescribed for really borderline cases of ADD or buying it from those who did have the prescriptions.
And since most young players are only a year or two removed from college, it's possible they've just continued to take it for the same reasons they did in college.

That's a good point. NFL players also have insurance and VERY easy access to prescription drugs. I'd probably be taking adderall too, if my employer kept a doctor on staff to hook me up.

Kuechly has continued to dominate training camp, he is an interception machine. Ultimately we will have to wait to see and make sure he's not just one of those guys who excels in camp but not on the field, but I get more excited about him every day.

All you have to do is send your prescription into the league and they'll ignore when you test positive for it.

Rams insider Tony Softli is saying DE Long is abusing RT Smith on a regular basis and it was getting ugly. Not good. Rams may have to move Harvey Dahl to RT like they did last year. With those 2 first rounders next year, they Rams will need an OT and OG in a huge way. Good thing they have the picks. Hopefully the Redskins pick will be a top 10.

We were only one away, though :(
I still remember everyone checking their phones on the bench at hockey during the draft. Was not a great reaction went Carolina took him. Not that we did something stupid, but he will be a pretty good one.

The sad part is, they should be educated about this and their respective team should be reminding them of such.
If I am not mistaken, to be suspended, you have test positive for something a second time, right?

Under the Substance Abuse policy, yes. But not under the PEDs policy, which is what guys testing positive for Adderall are being disciplined under. (It can be used as a masking agent.)
