I always find that funny, but I didn't hear anything like this at the time. Everyone was excited about it and Muschamp was the next best thing.
I was excited, yes. I thought he would be good... young, high energy guy with good experience at a big program. In hindsight, I am pretty pissed. Even if Muschamp turns out to be a decent coach it's still a bad hire. It took Gene Chizik 2 years to put Auburn in a NC, and it took Saban 2 to put Bama in the Sugar Bowl. Muschamp might not ever win 9 games

That's understandable. You have every right to be pissed at the job he's done, Florida deserves better. But at the time he was a hot coaching candidate, HCIW at Texas, rumored that Georgia would be hot after him, incredible DC resume at the time, he was a hot name and a bunch of people wanted him.

I figured he would have done better being he was hands on for a couple years at Texas before leaving. Recruiting I had no doubts about, the offense I figured it would be a learning curve if he didn't get a very experienced OC.

Taught me a lesson though, because while Mack Brown isn't anywhere near the greatest Head Coach I shouldn't have been so eager to push him out the door to start the Muschamp era.

Looks like Martinez has taken a step forward with his passing game.

Every QB in the country should be able to improve his passing this year. Pass defense has apparently gone out of style in college football. Just about every game this week had at least one long pass play.

Alabama vs. Michigan is replaying on ESPNU. Time to officially cross Denard off my Heisman list. Missed the game last night, obviously saw the highlight but really want to see how it unfolds.

I thought Muschamp was a bad hire. I'm sure you could search the archives here for it.

I can't wait to see how this season goes for Martinez and Dennard. They are pretty similar players - both very athletic and known more for their legs than arms. Given they both play in the same conference they are two key pieces to their respective teams. Should be interesting to see if one or the other takes a real step forward in the passing game to add another dimension to their offense. Up to this point both have been inconsistent at best. Please note I am not looking at their improvement in the passing game to see if it helps their draft stock because neither are pro QB draft prospects.

If you're not watching Louisville/Kentucky, you're missing Teddy Bridgewater. Super impressive.

I have no idea why, but Bridgewater reminds me of Tom Brady.

I have no idea either. He looks relaxed in the pocket, works a lot better on roll outs and playaction but that might have to do with their offensive line.

I'd be relaxed too against Kentucky, haha JK.

But to all the Muschamp haters, 3-9 for Florida, really man? They play Kentucky, thats one win, plus 3 cupcakes in the non-conference. At worst, they will go 6-6. I mean I know yesterday wasn't pretty, but my team only beat Northern Iowa by 5, and u don't see me jumping off a bridge and calling for people's jobs.

I think it was a bit reactionary. They didn't look good week one, true, but I would wait to see how they perform against Texas A&M before I start making that dire of predictions. Teams can have a poor opening game and then rebound. If they don't improve, then yes 3-9/4-8 look inevitable, but I think they will improve. They aren't going to threaten to win the SEC East, but they won't be doormats either.

I think they win around 8. That's about what they can win on talent alone.

I don't think their talent is too particularly special considering their opposition.

I remember last year in week 1 when USC only beat Minnesota by 2 and Auburn beat Utah State by 4. Talented teams have games like these. It's week one of college football, they don't get a live action in preseason to work out the kinks against 4 other teams. Florida didn't look very good but they got out of there with a win. Oklahoma 'only' beat UTEP by 17. Florida's schedule is brutal but let's wait until they play A&M to gauge how their season will go. They didn't beat a ranked team last year and have 4 preseason top 10s on their calendar this year. Muschamp has to beat two of them to deflect the hot seat talk.

Kentucky must really regret going for it on 4th and 14 on their own 30. They failed and Louisville turned it into 7. They're down 18 now and threatening with 12 mins but they have a lot of momentum. One play shouldn't lose you the game but it'd look a lot better being down 11 with the ball on the 5 at this point.

Louisville straight up took Bridgewater out.

Well, none of it matters now that Kentucky fumbled it on the 3 but still.

all of the teams you listed that started slow had competent quarterbacks, though. I've yet to see that trait from anyone on Florida's roster. the defense is still good and the running game was impressive, but we could get away with running against 8 in the box against Bowling Green. the same can't be said against even a team like Texas A&M.

3-9 was a bit sarcastic. I think Florida beats Kentucky and Vanderbilt, but you'll have a difficult time convincing me they're better than any other team on the schedule

I'm late to the party but LSU did NOT impress me with their win over North Texas. The offensive line, especially in pass protection, is a big cause for concern. UNT was able to get significant pressure on Mettenberger when LSU went to pass, which was a revolutionary on itself as it seems Miles and Studrawa must think that the forward pass set football back.

First time coaches can learn on the job. Fans and media just don't have the patience anymore. Experienced head coaches may be a little safer, but guys like Chip Kelly, Mike Gundy and Bob Stoops can be found.

Out of those three, only Bob Stoops stepped into a program that could be described at the same level of pressure and expectations as Florida. That's the difference when you talk about "patience".
