Winslow will catch on somewhere. I can't believe Vontaze made an NFL roster. I definitely would have wagered against that.

Prolly $$$$. Winslow was non guaranteed 3 million this year. Evan Moore is probably playing on a vet-min with incentives prove it deal. Plus Moore was on the practice squad with the Pack Crew way back. So I guess the John Schneider connection.

That wouldn't surprise me either because if he made the roster, he's probably been playing like 2010 Vontaze. Not to mention, Rey Maualuga sucks.

Raiders make a couple of moves:
Quote:
Joining the team, as announced by the Raiders moments ago, are defensive back Phillip Adams, linebacker Keenan Clayton, and tackle Willie Smith.
In turn, the Raiders released cornerback Chimdi Chekwa, a fourth-round pick in 2011 who appeared in four games with one start. Also waived was cornerback Bryan McCann. The Raiders likewise waived/injured defensive tackle Jamie Crumbie.
|
Dolphins:
Quote:
The Dolphins released Slaton and three others, after landing four players on waivers.
In via the league’s “dibs” process are receiver Anthony Armstrong (who was cut by the Redskins on Friday), linebacker Sammy Brown (Rams), safety Troy Nolan (Texans), and cornerback RJ Stanford (Panthers). Out are Slaton, linebacker Jonathan Freeny, linebacker Josh Kaddu, and safety Tyrone Culver.
Kaddu had been selection by the Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2012 draft.
|
Jets claim Clyde Gates and others:
Quote:
Gates was claimed on waivers by the Jets on Saturday, along with nose tackle Isaako Aaitui (Dolphins) and tight end Konrad Rueland (49ers).
In turn, the Jets waived safety Antonio Allen (a seventh-round pick in 2011), defensive tackle Marcus Dixon, and tight end Dedrick Epps.
The move to add Gates makes sense, given that he knows the Sparano offense. Of course, Gates knew it only well enough to make two catches for 19 yards as a rookie.

Any Jets fans out there? How did Terrance Ganaway look for you guys?
Also, anyone know anything about Kellen Heard?
Can't believe the Rams cut Jerome Murphy and traded away Greg Salas.

Possibly a good move for the Jets with their WRs.
Also glad to see Rueland get picked up.

knew Westerman would catch on with another 3-4 team somewhere. too good of a pass rusher from that olb spot and special teamer to go unemployed. joins a damn good Cards D.

It's interesting that the Colts listed Sergio Brown as a linebacker. Is that an error or are they planning a conversion?

He didn't do all that much and there was some talk of moving him to FB. Supposedly the coaching staff liked him though. I was hoping we could've him on the practice squad.

Giants trying to claim multiple crappy OT's does have me worried.

Pretty sure it's an error.
He might have been big enough to be an OLB in Tony Dungy's system (Cato June), but that's not possible in current system.

Wonder why the Panthers haven't made any waiver wire claims. They could use some help at DT, OG, WR and CB.

Drayton Florence, recently released by the Broncos, is expected to sign in Detroit soon pending a physical.
When a guy goes from cut to potentially starting for his new team, you know that team has it bad at that position.

He has played pretty good in the preseason to beat out Muckelroy for the Number 2 MLB spot. Has had 14 tackles, 1 sack and a 1 Ints in the preseason...prolly would have had even more if he didn't get injured by Taylor Mays in the first game.

All 8 of the 49ers' claims were 49ers' cuts. They've only added PS. I'm sure Baalke wants to add an OLB and an OT. Interesting.
WR - Nathan Palmer
OL - Kenny Wiggins
OL - Al Netter
DT - Tony Jerod-Eddie
DT - Matthew Masifilo
OLB - Cam Johnson
ILB - Michael Wilhoite
DB - Michael Thomas

That's still such bull ****. I'm not even going to get into it again.
Anyway:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...m-joins-texans
A list of each practice squad as they fill up. Some highlights:
The Ravens brought back Omar Brown, so whoever that was bitching about him getting cut can breathe a sigh of relief.
Cowboys brought 5th round pick Danny Coale back to their PS. He was even cut during the first round.
Case Keenum made the Texans PS.
Junior Hemingway made the Chiefs PS.
BJ Cunningham was signed to the Eagles PS after being cut by the Dolphins.
The comments section of that list also makes my head hurt.

Showed decent movement for his size, but was not a really strong replacement option when Kyle Williams would get hurt. Can be a roster player, sure.

Starts in 2011. Gets cut twice in the offseason. Still starts in 2012?

There just aren't enough quality corners in the league right now to keep up with all of these exploding passing attacks.
I mean, after years of getting toasted badly, Terrence Newman got cut and was immediately signed again. Frank Walker keeps getting work somehow...
The only way they seem to finally drop out of the league is if they decide to retire, ala Asher Allen.

Florence figured out that he won't get toasted if he just commits PI every play.
I will love him forever, though. Just for the Patriots game.

I wasn't though. He's not a "first year player" and neither was whoever it was that initially pissed me off when they said it. He has a "1" under experience because he has 1 year of experience. Rookies get an "R" listed.
