Laurinaitis signs new 5-year deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported via Twitter that the deal is for five years, and it will pay Laurinaitis a total of $41.5 million, including $23.5 million in guaranteed money.
|
He, Chris Long, Cortland Finnegan, Robert Quinn locked up....Brockers, Janoris Jenkins, Trumaine Johnson comin in as rookies. I like the way our defense is shaping up.

That defense is coming together nicely, but the other side of the ball needs to make strides still.

That defense is coming together nicely. Their offense is a trainwreck right now, but they have a developing defense and lots of picks to play with in the future.
They're a safety, cb and weakside backer away from being a top tier defense.

At $41.5 mil, he must have jumped all over that offer.

This. Nothing special about lil Hawk....Animal....whatever. 5th best ILB in NFCW for my money. Maybe that new front will work wonders for him but I've never been impressed with his game. He's like AJ Hawk 2.0

Seeing as there are only 3 other teams in the NFCW besides the Rams that is quite a statement. They must all be on Arizona and SF because Seattle is going with a rookie.

Well SF has P-Willie and NaVorro Bowman, Zona has Daryl Washington. Not sure who the other two would be.

did he at least learn how to shed blocks once he got to st. louis? I haven't followed him really since he got to the NFL.
Perhaps not, since some of you are implying that he's overrated.

I guess the implication is the Rams must be pretty stupid to pay him that kind of money.

Compared to what Daryl Washington is getting, this deal looks kinda dumb now.

6 years, $36 for Daryl Washington is better than 5 years, $41 for Laurinaitis.

Overpaid but **** it. Sometimes you got to overpay people to keep them around. He is a solid linebacker that has a good presence on that defense.

Uhhhhhhhh, no.
Second best if you remove SF from the equation? Possibly.
