i honestly think this was worse than bottlegate and the tuck rule...maybe because its week 3 and its not the playoffs or a playoff berth on the line its not as bad, but in terms of pure incompetence by the refs, this was honestly the worst ive ever seen.

The Browns and Raiders were screwed way harder.

The thing for me is that the official was literally right there, one of them ruled touchback, and then one of them went under the booth and I just don't understand how he could rule that as a touchdown. It just seemed as plain as day that that wasn't the case. Also, an obvious pass interference call wasn't made. The amount of things that went right for Seattle to win in that final sequence that shouldn't have gone right is truly astonishing.
At least with Bottlegate there is still some debate as to whether the guy was actually buzzed upstairs from the office. I know it was later in the season and this was early, but it was really shocking that this was called a certain when I'd say the majority of America thought that it was an obvious interception for the Packers. Very strange.
I'm really hoping some kind of statement is made by the league.

This is the first game where the officials have made a terrible call which has directly altered the outcome of a game so maybe the NFL will finally cave to the offical refs. However you would be silly to believe that other calls have not led to differing results. The Tennessee game yesterday was a case where the officals gave them an extra 12 yards on a 15 yard penalty, putting them easily within field goal range. The Patriots game had numerous calls which ended momentum etc. However this is the first game where you can see conclusively one play, at the end of the game, which cost a team a victory. Enough is enough, get the replacements out of there. They simply aren't up to the job.

This weekend the refs gave the 49ers an extra challenge and two extra time outs inexplicably. Might be worse.

That was not worse than this by any means. The Vikings held on to win the Packers lost on a pretty clear push off to INT. Even counting the no calls going for them that was still a pretty bs play.

I'm not watching the NFL until the real refs are paid and back officiating. I will also boycott, to the fullest extent possible, any business that sponsors the NFL.
It won't be easy to not watch the games, but it has to be done to save the NFL.

Let me get this right. If I drop the ball in the process of getting up after I clearly caught it, that IS NOT a TD. If the defender catches the ball, and I grab on to it in the process of falling down, that IS a TD.
Gotcha.

Supposedly, the replay officials could only rule whether or not it was in fact a catch. They couldn't overturn who caught it, because that's a judgement call.

Yeah, that's what I've been reading as far as the explanation
they ruled it a TD on a simultaneous possession. All they could do on the replay was CONFIRM if the ball was caught, which is was....just by the Packers player, for a TD

The NFL has stated today that is false.
New replay rules for 2012 allow scoring plays to have possession overturned or changed. So the replay official could have overturned the call into and interception.

Yep, just read the statement
I guess they determined there wasn't indisputable evidence to overturn it. Ok then

The NFL isn't going to just cone out and say they were wrong. That would build a case for the reg refs because then the clowns they currently have cost a team a game.

Though they never came out and said the initial call was the correct call, which may be very telling.

Yeah that was basically the most glaring thing I noticed from their statement. THey never claimed the officials made the correct call, they just basically confirmed the process was correct and they supported the decision

According to Packer ideology, they only beat themselves. The refs didn't beat them.

At least the Packers aren't crying about getting hit on the last play of the game. But but but it's the victory formation!!!!!
