Was my favorite draft because of the QBs mostly. The great John Elway involved in the soap opera of not wanting to play for the Colts. Dan Marino sliding to the bottom part of round 1 because of reported marijuana use.

The RBs were pretty special too with Eric Dickerson of SMU and Curt Warner of Penn State. Craig James of SMU would have gone high had he not signed with Washington of the USFL.

Paul Zimmerman (Dr. Z) used to come out with some real pearls of wisdom.

I think there were 6 HOFers in the 1st rd that year - in fact all 6 were first ballot. Elway, Marino and Kelly at QB. Eric Dickerson, Bruce Matthews and Darrell Green.

1989 was the next best with 4 HOFers in the Top 5 and guys like Steve Atwater who's on this year's semi final list.

Herschel Walker would have been in that Draft had he not chosen to leave UGA early for the USFL.

Wasn't leaving early not allowed at the time for the NFL?
