I'm okay with Parcells making it, even if four 1980's coaches seems a bit much. In a perfect world, maybe Walsh would be the only guy to make it.
If Tom Coughlin makes it, it's time to fire all of the HOF voters.

Parcells was a HOF coach without LT.
And don't think for a second it didn't take some foresight and vision for a control freak like Parcells to allow a player like Taylor to tear up the defensive playbook and freelance.
I don't think there's ever been another player in the modern era of football who was given a greenlight by his HC to play every down based on what his instincts told him to do.
Parcells was only a great HC in the NY area?? Really??
If you asked Joe Gibbs who was the star of all those great Giants teams of the '80s, I think he'd say it was Bill Parcells.

Parcells owes Scott Norwood a big thanks for this award.

Like hell he was. I don't think BBD would even argue that.
Without LT, Parcells won 54% of his games. That puts him right between Bobby Ross and Jack Del Rio. That's really all that needs to be said about that. No way in hell the Giants win either Superbowl without LT, and no way Parcells makes the HOF.

But he won two Superbowls and stuff. Maybe they'll induct he and Eli at the same time, as a big "**** you" to common sense.

Parcells did find success at every stop he's been though. Even though some of the success resulted in shorter stints than in New York (NYG). I think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

Who cares? What was Bellichick before Brady?
And Parcells was pretty successful without LT in NE and the Jets. You need good players to be a HOF coach. That's the case for every coach in the hall.

Which is why very few coaches should be in the Hall.
Parcells was also 3-5 in the playoffs without LT. This also oddly ties him with Bobby Ross. I guess Bobby Ross needed LT to make the HOF. Poor guy.

Eli is gonna be a HOFer. If there was an Eli "deal with" gif this would be a great time to use it.

Eh. I dunno. I don't want to saturate the hall with every multiple sb winning coach but I also want to give credit where it's due.
To be honest, there should be more GMs in the hall.

"This was Parcells" only means something to you because you're a homer. Sorry but it's true. Funny that you mention Jimmy Johnson, because the rebuilding job he did in Dallas is one of the most impressive of all time.

Of course he is. Terry Bradshaw and Troy Aikman both went first ballot. People are dumb.

Parcells wasn't just a Giant. He had tons of success with multiple teams. Many of the building blocks of Bellichick's champion Patriots were Parcells players. He even left Dallas with Romo and Ware.
I'm not being a homer at all by saying Parcells was a HOF coach.

Not really. He had one good year in New England, one good year in New York, and never really did **** in Dallas. He left them with Tony Romo? Thanks?
Bobby Ross. Jack Del Rio.

Maybe. I really don't know about that. I'd like to say yes, but I think as we get further and further along into this fantasy football statistics inflated era, the voters are going to be more harsh. He has two Super Bowl victories now while being a 2x Pro Bowler without any All Pro victories. Manning might never have that MVP season. I think that might hold him back if we keep seeing more and more of what we have seen from Eli Manning. If he were to retire tomorrow I still think he gets in, but it wouldn't be first ballot for sure. With a few more productive years I'm sure he's a lock. If he wins another Super Bowl, he's a lock. His resume needs to be padded with some more accolades though in the direction of All Pro and Pro Bowl to give him a boost.

I feel confident that Eli will continue to play at a high enough level that by the time he retires he'll be a HOFer.

Dallas would probably still be in the worse shape they were in the early 2000's if they didn't have Romo going 5-11 every year or something like that.

Not this time. I seriously don't understand how Parcells isn't a HOF coach to you. The only reason why he wasn't first ballot is bc he pissed off some writers and they made him wait a year.

The media absolutely adores Parcells, which is part of the reason why people think he's such a genius. Anyone from New York is going to immediately get a bump in these types of things due to the media presence there.

Next year should really help get some of the guys who have been in a logjam a chance to get in. I'm thinking Marvin Harrison gets in on his first try for some reason. Maybe Tim Brown and Andre Reed at receiver. Or rather I should say, one of those three are getting in. Will Shields should get in along with Strahan. I pray that Haley finally gets over the hurdle, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kevin Greene got the nod. He has more sacks, but zero rings.

Let me get this straight, Bill Parcells is a fabrication of the MY media??
If Parcells had been the Bears HC instead of the Giants, they would have renamed the city after him!!!
Parcells had a rep in SF. He had a rep in Philly. He had a rep in Dallas. He had a rep in Washington.
So many SB winning teams from the NFC had to go through the NYG to get to the big show, there used to be an expression by writers in the Washington Post that went roughly as follows;
'If you want to play in the Super Bowl, you better ask the Giants for permission.'
The SB fate of so many NFL teams was directly affected by Parcells and the Giants, if you go back and look at Parcells playoff record in NY, how many times did the Giants lose to a team that went on to win the SB???

I think Tim Brown's problem is going to be: "He was clearly the third best WR from his draft class, and Sterling Sharpe is never, ever getting in."
