Welker also put up 10 TDs which is way above your prediction. No shame in putting up less than Thomas and Decker. Both are better players at this point. Just because they are better doesn't mean he is bad. Welker is getting older and had been beat up this year but still was pretty good. Manning really seemed to like him as a tool in that offense.

Coincidence?
Out of 101 combined TDs on those teams, Welker has caught just 18 of them.

That means 83 of the TDs (82.2%) were caught by players other than Welker.

What you mean is he's been listed as "probable" a couple of times with some bumps and bruises this year and you think that is somehow significant.

Newsflash:

That's the case with
EVERY PLAYER IN THE FU(KING LEAGUE.

You don't make it through 16 games in the NFL without taking some bumps and bruises. Nobody goes an entire season and stays entirely off the injury report.

Welker has suffered zero actual injuries this year until the concussion. He was in no way "hurt and pretty limited."

I don't blame you, though. Julian Edelman has spoken for me, now to the tune of 96 catches for 991 yards and 6 TDs with still a game to play. Wes Welker was a product of a system, you were a homer and couldn't accept the fact that he, and Troy Brown before him, were journeyman-caliber receivers/role player/gadget guys, and now you need to pull out every excuse you can think of in an attempt to convince yourself and others that the Patriots are more than just the greatest coaching feat in the history of professional sports...executed by an egotistical jerk of a coach who knows exactly how good he is and purposely gets predominantly white skill position players to emphasize to the world that it's he who makes it work.

Here's a list of "hurt and pretty limited" receivers this week alone (this doesn't include guys who were actually out, or guys on injured reserve):

Michael Crabtree (probable, ankle/wrist)
Mario Manningham (questionable, knee/illness)
Steve Smith (probable, finger)
Tavon Austin (questionable, ankle/foot)
Vincent Jackson (probable, hamstring)
Keenan Allen (probable, shoulder)
Eddie Royal (questionable, toe)
Santonio Holmes (probable, foot/hamstring)
Brandon Marshall (probable, hamstring)
Larry Fitzgerald (questionable, concussion)
Michael Floyd (probable, ankle)
Andre Johnson (probable, wrist)
DeAndre Hopkins (probable, ankle)
Demaryius Thomas (probable, shoulder)
T.Y. Hilton (questionable, shoulder)
Calvin Johnson (questionable, knee)
Aaron Dobson (questionable, foot)
Danny Amendola (probable, groin)
Emmanuel Sanders (probable, foot)
Jerricho Cotchery (probable, shoulder)
Terrance Williams (questionable, hamstring)

Welker had some ankle injuries too, nothing severe.
However, he has missed 2 full games, missed what a half of another, actually I think another full game missed due to the concussion games. If he's healthy, he has probably a 90-100 catch season with 900-1,000 yards and 10 TD's.

Welker is a great player who is extremely skilled.

There's nothing great about Wes Welker. He's a glorified Cole Beasley.

If we're going to talk "what if they'd played the missing games"...

Josh Gordon has missed 2 games this year. Still has 1564 yards and 9 TDs.
Calvin Johnson missed a game. 1492 and 12.
Victor Cruz just missed a game. 998 yards and 4.
Keenan Allen missed a game. 957 yards and 8.
Marques Colston missed a game. 876 and 5.
Hakeem Nicks missed a game. 846 and 0.
Cecil Shorts has missed 2 games. 777 yards and 3.
James Jones has missed 2 games. 776 and 3.
Greg Jennings has missed a game. 760 and 4.
Eddie Royal has missed a game. 597 and 7.
Stevie Johnson has missed 3 games. 597 and 3.
Denarius Moore has missed 3 games. 632 and 5.
Danny Amendola has missed 4 games. 624 and 2.

Julio Jones has been out for the season. Had 580 and 2 in 5 games.
Reggie Wayne has been out for the season. Had 503 and 2 in 7 games.

And of course, Julian Edelman had to leave the slot and play sparingly for a few games when Amendola returned, starting with the Bengals game.

Regardless, Wes Welker has had great production in the NFL, whether or not you think that means he's a great individual talent.

If catching 100 balls was so easy, more than two players would have at least 5 seasons with 100+ catches(Welker being one of them).

is there some reason you think you can ignore the censors, but no one else can? do you have unresolved issues with reading, or is this just teenage rebellion against 'the rules' or something?

A better question is why there are ******* censors on this forum in the first place. Are you afraid all the children around here are going to learn bad words?

that's not a better question, that's a childish question. the answer is always "because the site owner wanted them. if you don't like them, go find another forum." no part of this should be difficult to piece together, so i'm unsure why you're having such a hard time with it.

In case you haven't noticed, Julian Edelman needs 4 catches next week to have his 1st 100+ catch season from the same position in the same system.

Clearly it's not very difficult to do it as a slot receiver on New England. The only issue is staying healthy. After that, it's automatic.

You can't look around the league and throughout history and determine it must be difficult when the situations are completely incompatible.

yes, everyone is a nazi because you can't do what you want to do. it's sad, but somewhat telling, that you're doubling down on the childishness. again, feel free to find another forum more to your taste.

And there will be a large discrepancy between his 100 catch season and the ones Welker put up for us. Not to mention Welker was doing it with a slew of other weapons on offense for us (Gronk, hernandez, lloyd, Moss, etc...) while Edelmen's first 100 catch season is coming as the primary and largely only target. Youre entitled to think whatever you'd like, but youre just wrong. The fact youre getting a pretty anti welker pats fan to argue in favor of welker should tell you all you need to know. But I'm not sure why I'm even responding because its apparent at this point youre only doing this to get a rise out of people.

No, it's because the forum owner doesn't want a bunch of curse words crowding his forum. It's extremely unprofessional and can turn people away. Especially considering SWDC is a nationally recognized name (scott was on NFL Network a couple of years ago).

As an aside, why the **** has this guy not been banned yet? Is it purely for our entertainment?

Oh yes, because nothing says "professional" like people posting memes, njx refusing to capitalize anything, and Saints-Tigers being allowed to post here.

Oh, but why stop there? Are you going to implement a rule where all posters must have Wes Welker avatars and derogatory comments towards players are banned?

After all, why should we be allowed freedom of speech/expression on an internet forum? It's childish to expect otherwise.

Heil njx.

I'd like to interview Taber sometime. What does he do with his life? How boring must his life be that he can't find anything better to do with his life than troll football forums and wax poetically about T.O.? Is he so unfortunate looking that he can't find a woman or man who is willing to share his company?

The "weapons" stuff is just you moving the goal posts because Edelman has done exactly what I said he would do if given the chance.

As an aside, why the **** has this guy not been banned yet? Is it purely for our entertainment?
He was also a part of madden.

Welker is part of the evolution of football. He is an extension of the run game. He, along with many players of this generation, have transformed the slot receiver's value to the passing game and him specifically as a short yardage/chain moving option.

Is Welker a Randy Moss or Terrell Owens? Absolutely not, I don't think anyone around here is arguing that he's a gamebreaker like those guys, but he is a technician, being able to manage yardage, space, and keep the offense on the field. Different skillsets doesn't necessarily mean that he's a worse player, it just means that his value is completely different.

I'm not the one with 10,700+ posts here since April of 2010.

What I do is make compelling points on internet forums that the less intelligent mistake for "trolling." Rather than starting a thread, "Calvin Johnson iz goodz," I start a thread, "Wes Welker is a product of the Patriots' system."
