Default Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan

Am I the only one that sees this guy as close to if not the top OT in this class?

Guy is one of the better pass blockers i've scouted (the past 5 drafts). He just gets it, awareness and recognition is there, has all the movement skills you want, rarely loses leverage, despite being 6'8"/6'9", great natural knee bender, wide base and quick feet when in pass pro. Uses hands well, and has a very heavy punch, and never lunges at guys to block them. Only downside is that he can get pushed back at times by a good bull rush, but almost always uses feet/hands/good base and sinks back down, wins back leverage and re-gains leverage. One of the better pulling OL i've seen in a long time, athleticism is top notch, especially shown when blocking at the 2nd level.

As a run blocker, he's not the strongest guy, but quick into his man, with his good punch and if nothing else, can wall his man out of the hole. He will finish if his man gets slightly off balance.

Honestly, he seems like a guy who's, athletic and highly polished. Could very well stand to add another 10-20lbs, but definitely has the frame for it. Inline power is the only sizable issue i see here, and he does a great job of masking that with his technique.

When it's all said and done, I expect him to go top 15. I felt he got more physical and more aggressive as the year I like him better than both Solder and Castonzo. Think he is stronger and has a much better base than both despite possessing similar size and athletic traits. Hard not to like guys with that length who also have a big strong base.

With his height he sounds a lot like Nate Solder, which will get you drafted in the first round for sure. Solder gets a lot of crap but he's done well for the Pats and he played at a higher level than Fisher. It'll be interesting to see who turns out to be the better player.

Are you the ONLY one???? Well I don't know. You seem sort of on the fence with him. Which makes you among the general consensus. Yeah he's close to the top. But you went shy of saying he IS the top. Everyone basically agrees with that.

I love the enthusiasm with the new thread... but did think you were the first one to notice him or something?

No, most people see him as a fringe first/late first round guy, or from what i've seen. I see him as a top 10 pick. A lot of people i've seen have Joeckel as the clear cut #1 guy, and a top 5-10 pick, I think that Fisher is right up there with him if not the top guy.

Looked good versus Iowa, but I didn't like what I saw versus Michigan State. Against MSU, on many plays, mostly pass protection, he was barely keeping his guy from making the play. That means his guy wasn't making the play nonetheless, but it seemed to me that if it were a NFL caliber defensive end on that play, he would be making the play. Ultimately I need to see more, but from that, no I definitely wouldn't put him as the number one tackle.

Fisher has been my top ranked senior offensive tackle for at least a couple months now.

Joe Staley 2.0 and a first rounder in my book.

I like him a lot, but do you think he's ready to play LT from Day 1 of camp? That's my concern with him as far as the Bears go.

Like most rookie LT's, you take your bumps for a year and then you get a pretty solid starter for a decade.

Reminds me quite a bit of Tyron Smith from a couple years ago. Not quite the physique, but similar playing athleticism, strength and refinement, still has some areas to improve on, but overall, good technique and can contribute right away.
