Idk anything about Giolito. I know next to nothing about baseball prospects. The extent of my knowledge is hey why not draft a guy who people thought should go #1 lol.

Basically, the way the new slotting system works. Wouldn't be overly wise unless the Mets feel Appel is just THAT damn good, which most people don't seem to think.

If there weren't some questions based on injury/money demands, he'd be rated higher than Appel.

I guess you believe Sandy should have taken the Jerry Reese approach and draft guys who can do back flips lol.

If everything breaks right, we got ourselves a backup middle infielder/2nd division team fringe starter.

Oh well I guess I will just go back to watching the encore of Johan's no hitter then.

Yeah, Cecchini over Hawkins is not my favorite move.
I do think he's a bit underrated though.
Good defensive SS, can hit and run. Might develop some power, though probably not that much.

Terrible. Just so so so so terrible. I mentioned this in the other thread but he only had 13 XBH is HS this year. 13!!!!! How can a guy who's supposedly has good speed only get 13 XBH in HS. It's terrible.

Maybe they are saving to spend more later.
Just wanted to throw a glass-half-full opinion out there.

Of course it's possible but very doubtful. Looks like Wilpons cut back here also.

Also, this is a weak draft. If we were going cheap/safe on Cecchini at 12, #35 would have been our pick to spend on. No one worth paying later.

Lost in the shuffle is another good outing for Mejia.
Low K numbers, but he has a 1.59 ERA in AAA and has only allowed 6 total baserunners in 11 innings.
I hope they give him a shot as a starter.

I hope so as well. With all the trouble we're having in the bullpen though it looks like they'll throw him in there.

I've always wondered how do teams enforce that?
Is there a picture of these guys in the stadium or something?
There are big lines at every gate and the gatekeepers don't even look at people's faces most of the time.

It's hard to enforce but if they ever did catch him in stadium again he'd probably go to jail for trespassing.

Stankiewicz sounds like an interesting prospect.
Might be my favorite pick so far.
Reynolds is "meh".
