This Dockett thing seems like a good thing though. Maybe players won't give him too much ****, and just be supportive? lolol.

The smartest thing he could do is publicly, and somewhat unapologetically, say "I just wanted the Heisman. I probably shouldn't have done it. It didn't even work. Sorry." and be kind of a standoffish jerk about it. If he's a top MLB skills-wise, AND he's a bit of a sick cut-throat dude that will say or do anything to accomplish his goal, that might not be that bad of a thing to some teams.

He probably has a promotional deal. Every mention gets him an extra . . . let's say "dance."

But he'd never hear the end of it from teammates, fans and the media. Admitting it would be committing social suicide.

And being the inept awkward kid who fell for a 3 year hoax with a fake girlfriend wouldn't be social suicide?

Bob Holtzman is reporting that Te'o loved the attention he was getting from the death of his girl friend and most of his teammates didn't believe she was real.
Notre Dame and nobody wants to talk to the media. Seems pretty clearly Te'o is full of ****. I don't know to what extent but he seems like he's been lying quite a bit.

He'd be seen as an idiot, but at least some people would feel sympathetic towards him. If he admits it he's the idiot that made up and killed his girlfriend to win a trophy (or whatever reason he chose to do it).

No one would feel sympathy since he continued to push the lie after he knew it was a lie.

An ND senior should nut up and come public about what they thought.

The media and fans would move on, and his teammates will change. The NFL is full of guys that have done really stupid, weird, terrible things. Jerramy Stevens raped a drugged woman in both holes on his frat house's front lawn, and he somehow had a career in the NFL.
The only guy I can think of whose scandal kept him from the NFL despite his talent is the OT that ****ed his sister.

Tony Washington slept with his sister, but it was consensual and I never saw the problem with it.

Same here. I still have no doubt that his talent was too questionable for teams to take on the media headache, rather than some altruistic sense of morality. Clearly his situation is not worse than that of many guys who made NFL rosters (or draft lists, anyway.)
Manti might fall out of the top half of round 1 or even entirely out of round 1, but he's not going to last too long through round two regardless of how this hoax shakes out.

The NFL has rapists, murderers, drunken drivers, female abusers, and sociopaths, Te'o will fit right in. Why Tony Washington never got a chance with these group of clowns is beyond me, but whatever.

Bc he was a registered sex offender. The travel arrangements were complicated. Teams didn't want to deal with it.

I'm thinking the Lions GM Martin Mayhew is behind all of this, to try and get Te'o to fall to us at #36.

took someone 28 pages to state the obvious. It's only guys like Tim Tebow that don't seem to fit in.
