Of course it's not that much, he's not going to recruit the entire state like LSU, he's got Alabama to recruit from. But when he can go in and take the best players away on a routine basis then I think that's a pretty good job of recruiting the state. Plus this year he got four total. As of right now Saban's signed as many Rivals 5 Star players from Louisina over the past three recruiting years as Les Miles.

2012: Top two players overall
2013: Two of the top 12 players
2014: Two of the top 5, three of the top 15

Jeff Jones canceled his trip to Michigan as well.

Rumors are coming up again that FSU will be pushing C.J. Worton and JoJo Robinson out of this class to make room for more talented players. Worton would likely end up at UF or UCF and now Robinson is predicted to Arkansas where he'll take an OV this weekend.

They must feel good about Dupre and Javon Harrison if those rumors are true. Michael L seems to think Worton is a take.

Bud Elliott does to, the numbers he put in Florida's highest classification (not necessarily the best level of HS FB in the state though) were ridiculous. I'd also take him because he follows the line of FSU Heisman winners in WArd, WEinke, and WInston.

With Dupre I worry that LSU's offer of early playing time will trump having to wait a year or so to really crack the lineup.

I don't think playing time would be too big of a factor. We rotate a lot. Obviously not as much this past year because we had quite a few injuries at the receiver position.

Looking forward to play you all next year, should be a fun game. I don't know much about Minnesota football besides Coach Kill being a great coach and you had a really solid year this year. How much playing time should Jeff get (if he stays committed which is seems like he will)?

We also get our fair share from Texas/Florida/Mississippi and a new pipeline in Illinois that's beginning to show some promise. Those guys we lose we replace with equal talent so it's not like we're losing them at all. Also the majority of the guys are northeast Louisiana which might as well not even be Louisiana because those kids constantly go OOS. Saban does a good job cherry picking though.

Good question. I doubt he'll redshirt but runningback is a position we'll be pretty solid at next year. David Cobb ran for 1,200 yards last year and he's returning. So is Donnell Kirkwood, who has almost 1,500 career yards and Rodrick Williams who ran for a few hundred last year. If Jones is going to take carries away it will primarily be from those two. We also have Braylon Edwards' brother, who redshirted last year, as a speed back.

The thing about Jones is that everyone recognizes how talented he is, but he played for one of the city schools, which are absolutely terrible in Minneapolis (the majority of innercity kids with talent are recruited by the suburban schools) so his stats are outrageous, but against weak competition. His performance in the camps and all-star games showed a lot of what he's capable of, but I wouldn't be surprised if he struggles a little to adjust to the college game as a freshman.

As far as knowing anything about us goes, we're going to run the ball about 75% of the time and the defense is pretty solid. Our quarterback is a good runningback, and that's about it.

The guys you get from Florida aren't as good as the ones Saban takes from Louisiana. You only get one or two a year and it's like one four star or three star. Saban has taken fives two of the past three years.

Because stars matter. Trey Quinn is the best reciever in the state isn't even a 5 star.

I think it's pretty clear Malachi Dupree is the best WR in the state.

I think our run D is going to be solid next year with Fields coming back along with the rest of our D-Line retiring, but it'll be a really exciting game. Nobody here really understands that Minnesota is a solid football team outside of the football fanatics like myself. Should be a fun one.

Yet apparently "stars" are. Go figure. How close do you follow Louisiana high school football? Exactly.

I thought we had established that high school stats are essentially useless for judging a high school prospect's college potential? If you really think Quinn is a better receiver than Dupree than you're alone because not just Rivals but also ESPN, Scout, and both 24/7 rankings have him ahead of him in their WR rankings. Only one doesn't have him in the top two at WR and ESPN has him as the best WR.

Dupree played on a better team, played against better competition, and had better players surrounding him than Quinn. If you wanna used HS stats to scout HS football players, go ahead. You're going to miss out on a lot of the best players.

So by LSU logic he is the best WR in Florida, perhaps the country. I mean I was happy with Travis Rudolph and will be happier with Ermon Lane, but who knew we locked up the top WR in Florida a long time ago.

He didn't play against better competition. Not even close.

The only schools worth a damn Barbe played against this season are Acadiana and West Monroe. JCC played against Bergen Catholic (NJ), St. Thomas Aquinas (FL), Edna Karr, University Lab, St. Augustine, and Evangel Christian. That's two of the best teams in the nation and four of the best in Louisiana.

Are you trying to change the subject because you realized how clear it was that Dupree is the better receiver than Quinn and using HS stats to justify a player's value is stupid?
