Default Offensive Linemen Rankings (Top 15 OTs/Interior Linemen)

Please continue with the discussion, criticism, and posting of other rankings now with the tackles and interior linemen.

Previous Rankings
Corners & Safeties (1/29): http://www.draftcountdown.com/forum/...ad.php?t=55445
Receivers & Tight Ends (2/1): http://www.draftcountdown.com/forum/...ad.php?t=55490
Quarterbacks & Running backs (2/3): http://www.draftcountdown.com/forum/...ad.php?t=55531

Offensive Tackles

1. Eric Fisher : CENTRAL MICHIGAN
2. Luke Joeckel :: TEXAS A&M
3. Lane Johnson : OKLAHOMA
4. DJ Fluker :: ALABAMA
5. Menelik Watson :: FLORIDA STATE
6. Jason Bahktiari :: COLORADO
7. Jordan Mills :: LOUISIANA TECH
8. Chris Faulk :: LOUISIANA STATE
9. Justin Pugh :: SYRACUSE
10. Terron Armstead :: ARKANSAS PINE-BLUFF
11. Oday Aboushi : VIRGINIA
12. Reid Fragel :: OHIO STATE
13. Brennan Williams : NORTH CAROLINA
14. Ricky Wagner : WISCONSIN
15. Xavier Nixon : FLORIDA

Analysis: Eric Fisher's performance at the Senior Bowl vaulted him into the #1 spot, and that's not discounting Joeckel because he's 1b to Fisher being 1a. Lane Johnson is another Top 16 caliber selection and will be a nice addition for teams who miss out on the top two. Watson, Bahktiari, Mills, and Armstead are all intriguing options in the second and third round. Fluker and Pugh are right tackle prospects who could easily be kicked inside to guard. The remaining five on the list (11-15) look to be right tackle prospects who all have shown flaws in their game throughout the season to warrant the ranking. Overall, the tackles are another deep group in this draft, and we're looking at plenty of future starters with them.

Interior Linemen

1. Chance Warmack : ALABAMA
2. Jonathan Cooper : NORTH CAROLINA
3. Barrett Jones : ALABAMA
4. Travis Frederick :: WISCONSIN
5. Kyle Long :: OREGON
6. Larry Warford : KENTUCKY
7. Dallas Thomas : TENNESSEE
8. Brian Schwenke :: CALIFORNIA
9. Brian Winters : KENT STATE
10. Hugh Thornton : ILLINOIS
11. Alvin Bailey :: ARKANSAS
12. JC Tretter :: CORNELL
13. Mario Benavides : LOUISVILLE
14. David Quessenberry :: SAN JOSE STATE
15. Khaled Holmes : USC

Analysis: I blended centers and guards because several of these guys have ability to play either guard position or center at the next level. Chance Warmack is a special prospect and has a rare chance for a guard to break into the top ten (thinking Tennessee). Jonathan Cooper is an exceptional guard and with Warmack's presence he probably doesn't get as much attention as he deserves, but he's worthy of a high selection as well. Jones and Frederick will be drafted as versatile linemen, and with Frederick I think he ultimately ends up at guard. Schwenke had one of the more impressive Senior Bowl weeks and should be one of the first three centers off the board in April. David Quessenberry is a very good player, but he's a tough one to evaluate at this point because he doesn't seem to be able handle the speed off the edge at tackle and he's not extremely physical so he'll likely be brought into a ZBS. Overall, it's a broken record but there's an abundance of quality interior linemen, and there's probably four guys who will grade out as first rounders and six or seven will go in the first two rounds.

Brian Winters should be in that list.

Oh ****. Didn't see him haha. You see him strictly as a guard or you think teams will give him a try at RT ?

He might get a try at right tackle, but his best attribute is his strength and run blocking. I know he'd struggle with edge rushers if he played at tackle.

Where would Fluker go if he was moved to the OG rankings?

I'd actually have Kyle Long on both lists and maybe higher than he is now.

I think you could make an argument that FLuker could be just as good of an OG as Warmack.

The four interior guys he's below, it's tough to make an argument Long is a better prospect than any one of those four guys. They are all more proven and haven't maxed out their potentials either. Long has some intriguing potential and some bright spots to his game but he's a bit rough around the edges.

Fluker, whether it's at RT or guard, will be a mauler and will excel in any team's running attack. It might be a bit much to say he'll be as good as Warmack, but there's no denying he'll be a good starting offensive lineman.

Where is Long on your OG list? I think his best position will be LG.

I didn't list players at both positions, hence why Long, Thomas, Fluker are only listed at OT and why Aboushi, Winters etc only listed at interior

Brennan Williams is far too low, IMO. I'd slot him at fifth.

Also, since when is Aboushi a RT only prospect? I don't see that at all.

I have him rated as only a RT, but probably a Guard at the next level. He's not an NFL LT in at all in my opinion

Aboushi can't handle speed rushers whatsoever...I don't see good balance from him

Totally agree. If there's one thing I'm noticing this year, that I probably should have noticed in years passed, it's that people are WAY too conservative when projecting tackles to guard. D.J. Fluker is an enormous, powerful offensive lineman that has the feet to have blocked DE's in the SEC. He can probably handle right tackle in the NFL without a problem, but if some team takes him as a guard, I can't imagine a scenario, outside of conditiong/work ethic stuff, where he isn't awesome. If I'm running the Bears, I take him over Warmack.

I think Fluker has Carl Nicks upside at Guard. He came in weighing more than expected but was tight and fit for a 355 pound man, so I don't think he's got Andre Smith syndrome.

Pesonally, I'm hoping Fluker somehow falls to the Titans in round 2 after we take a DL, or DB in round 1

He can probably handle right tackle in the NFL without a problem, but if some team takes him as a guard, I can't imagine a scenario, outside of conditiong/work ethic stuff, where he isn't awesome. If I'm running the Bears, I take him over Warmack.
I think many people are too optimistic in this regard as well. Many people just think that any OT can play Guard, and that's far from the case

I think these rankings are pretty damn dead-on, PF. I'm not quite as high on Barrett and I'm higher on Dallas Thomas than you are, but besides that I agree with pretty much everything.

He may ultimately end up at guard, but given his success at Syracuse and then a decent Senior Bowl week, a team will draft him with the initial intent of playing him at tackle.

I agree, and rudely didn't comment on how much I like your rankings. I agree a LOT with it.

but I was having a convo on twitter with ATL and neither of us are high on Pugh. He did have an average Senior Bowl which won't hurt him, but I've seen him get beat A LOT by mediocre pass rushers in the big east. It'll be interesting where he ends up
