Default Build An Entire NFL Team

Ok, so I did this last year around this time to try and get over the monotony of the offseason.

The basic rule is to pick an entire NFL from QB right down to special teams coordinator but you can only use one member from each of the 32 NFL teams.

You can run whatever offense/defense you like, but the rule is there will be 11 offensive players, 11 defensive players, 4 special teamers (K, P, KR and PR), an owner, GM, head coach, OC, DC and special teams coordinator.

Here's mine:

QB: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
RB: Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
WR: Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
WR: Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons
TE: Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots
TE: Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints
LT: Trent Williams, Washington Redskins
LG: Evan Mathis, Philadelphia Eagles
OC: Mike Pouncey, Miami Dolphins
RG: Carl Nicks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
RT: Michael Oher, Baltimore Ravens

DE: Jason Pierre-Paul, New York Giants
DT: Geno Atkins, Cincinnati Bengals
DT: Muhammed Wilkerson, New York Jets
DE: JJ Watt, Houston Texans
LB: Von Miller, Denver Broncos
LB: Navorro Bowman, San Francisco 49ers
LB: Lance Briggs, Chicago Bears
CB: Joe Haden, Cleveland Browns
FS: Jairus Byrd, Buffalo Bills
SS: Eric Weddle, San Diego Chargers
CB: Patrick Peterson, Arizona Cardinals

K: Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders
P: Dustin Colquitt, Kansas City Chiefs
KR: Darius Reynaud, Tennessee Titans
PR: Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys

Owner: Dan Rooney, Pittsburgh Steelers
GM: John Schneider, Seattle Seahawks
HC: Chuck Pagano, Indianapolis Colts
OC: Mike Shula, Carolina Panthers
DC: Bob Babich, Jacksonville Jaguars
STC: John Fassel, St Louis Rams

2-TE set offense with roots in the Run-And-Shoot (lots of motion and mismatches). Graham and Gonzalez can both line up inside or flexed into slot. Keeping both on the field forces the defense to cover them with linebackers or get eaten alive by AP.

Defensively running a 4-3 with a ton of different looks. Von Miller will be the primary LB blitzer with Sean Lee/Bowman responsible for read-and-react in the middle of the field. Defensively on the back-end play opportunistically as 4 man pressure from Wake-Atkins-Campbell-Watt should be immense. Adding Miller on blitzes means QBs should be getting sacked or tossing up prayers. Personnel wise the team is also able to flex positions in 3-4 looks with Wake and Miller standing up outside.

Huh?

\o/ PFF for the win. Used them as a base-line and didn't update teams.

ST: Danny Crossman Bills

Might be bending the rules a little bit with using current head coaches as coordinators but I feel it should be fine considering I didn't use anyone from their teams.

My defense is what I am intrigued about the most. Rex can run so many different looks with this defense. Set up beautifully if he wants to run a 4-3 and if he wants to go to a 3-4 he slides Ngata to the nose while Atkins and Watt are on the end, then sliding JPP and Von to OLB and letting Willis and Brown roam the middle.

since tebow's a free agent, is it against the rules for him to be my quarterback?

It seems like when people make these lists they just take the best player at each position without regard to how they'll fit together.

Clearly that's not true because no one is picking AJ Green :)

There is no other way to do it, because you cant pick more than one player from a team meaning that anyone you pick (unless they have played together in the past) will have never played with each other ....

So who knows how Peyton Manning would work with Calvin Johnson etc.... the only thing you can really do is pick the best player at a given position or pick a player from a certain scheme.

Notes: Really wanted to use head coaches as coordinators, but was unclear as to whether that was allowed, so I didn't. LOL punters; who's punting with these offenses? Dat Oakland roster. What happened to Pittsburgh? Sheesh. I placed an emphasis on getting the owner and GM I wanted...want my team's success to be sustained. Head coach seems to not be terribly important; anyone who can motivate and stay out of the way should win with this kind of talent.

hartley is bad, of all possibilities you have for the saints he is one of the worst possible choices. easiest way to upgrade your team is take zeuerlein as the kicker and graham at TE absolutely hugely upgrading both positions
