So it could be homerish but is it just me or does the NFC North team look the best.

I would take the AFC West's Offense or atleast it holds it's own... i mean you have a good run/pass blocking line and you have 2 proven outside guys and the best slot WR in the game(you cant just say oh lets put the 3rd best WR in slot...because its not that simple) and All-pro HB and Manning commanding the offense... i would say it would be near impossible to defend.

Also the Pass Rushing ability from the AFC West's D would be VERY IMPRESSIVE.

Offensively definitely. On defense the back 7 on that team would get destroyed going against most of the offenses that exist in this hypothetical scenario.

Whats wrong with Clay, Bishop/Greenway and Briggs?

The defensive backs are fine too. Tillman had DPOY consideration halfway through last season. Hayward was actually really good last year and better than a lot of the guys that are more known than him. Harrison Smith is a great up and coming free safety. Morgan Burnett is kinda meh, but that's mainly because he's been playing out of position at FS.

Anyway, the main strength of the defense is the defensive line, which is exactly where you'd want your strength to be. 5 of the best pass rushers at their respective positions if you throw in Clay Matthews.

It's just not good enough to handle the majority of the offenses on this list. I don't really feel like getting into the individual merits of each player on that defense, but there aren't really any elite cover guys in that back 7 besides Briggs who is getting up there in years.

Going up against a team like the one from the NFC South for instance they can't handle Jones, White, Jackson, and Graham without leaving a bunch of 1x1 matchups. The pass rush is good, but the lines for all of these teams are also good, so I don't think the rush could get there consistently enough to cover up the lack of range and elite man cover skills on the back end.

Alfred Morris is definitely on the team at RB over Murray & Wilson.

CB: Josh Wilson

S: Kenny Phillips
S: Antrel Rolle

K: Dan Bailey
P: Steve Weatherford
Returner: David Wilson

Overall Numbers:

Giants 8
Eagles 5
Cowboys 9
Redskins 3

Overall notes:

Brandon Graham would be on the team as a pass-rush specialist. If he keeps his high level of play with additional playing time then he can challenge Ware/JPP for a spot.

Shady vs Morris was hard. My ideal team is running 3 WR sets without a FB and the RB would need to be shifty and an excellent pass catcher so I went with Shady.

Wide Receivers I think Nicks is more talented than Cruz/Jackson but injuries have to factor in and keeping him healthy is impossible. Gave the nod to Jackson to stretch the defense for Cruz underneath and to force teams to decide between doubling the guy running the streak pattern or Dez Bryant. Good luck.

Defensive line was tough. IMHO JPP/Ware are locks for this year with Graham challenging hard. The interior is an interesting proposition. Cox I think instantly got the nod for one spot with a battle between Hatcher and Joseph for the second spot. Gave the nod to Hatcher as he had a beastly year on the inside despite being a 3-4 DE.

Linebackers were the easiest group. Sean Lee and Bruce Carter were the top 2 linebackers in the division for me and Demeco had another good year. Slim pickings with the rest of the division though an injury to one of the top three would result in a drop-off.

Corners I picked the two vastly underrated guys. Josh Wilson was excellent and gets no love. Brandon Carr may have a lower ceiling than Mo but he is a superior player at this stage.

The safety situation in this division is atrocious. The Giants had the only two guys I would be comfortable starting so I went with Phillips/Rolle. I hope secondary play is much better for everyone else to make this look silly later.

Special teams: Kicker was a lock. Bailey missed one kick and has been nicknamed "Steely Dan" for his crunch-time kicks. Punter was a bit harder between Weatherford and Rocca but I went with consistency. Added a returner category because I wanted to make sure to have David Wilson to return kickoffs.

NFC South :

Offense :
QB : Drew Brees (Saints)
RB : Doug Martin (Bucs)
WR : Marques Colston (Saints)
WR : Julio Jones (Falcons)
WR : Vincent Jackson (Bucs)
TE : Jimmy Graham (Saints)
LT : Jordan Gross (Panthers)
LG : Carl Nicks (Bucs)
C : Ryan Kalil (Panthers)
RG : Jahri Evans (Saints)
RT : Zach Strief (Saints)

Defense :
DE : Charles Johnson (Panthers)
DT : Gerald McCoy (Bucs)
DT : Star Lotulelei (Panthers)
DE : Cameron Jordan (Saints)
OLB : Sean Witherspoon (Falcons)
MLB : Luke Kuechly (Panthers)
OLB : Lavonte David (Bucs)
CB : Darrelle Revis (Bucs)
CB : Keenan Lewis (Saints)
FS : Dashon Goldson (Bucs)
SS : William Moore (Falcons)

Bucs : 7
Saints : 7
Panthers : 5
Falcons : 3

The DT and CB depht isn't great. And the OT are not that strong. But that look like a great team that could do some damage. I especialy like the LB corp.
It's too bad Steven Jackson, Tony Gonzales, Donlad Penn, Carl Nicks, Greg Hardy, Jon Beason, Marc Barron and Thomas DeCoud are left out and since I couldn't decide wich kicker to choose I didn't put the special team but Thomas Morestead would be my obvious punter.
I'm surprised by the number of Bucs in this team and I realise that some people may consider Roddy White and Asante Samuel for theirs position's spots but maybe my dislike of the Falcons influenced my list and I just couldn't list them for this team. I confess : I'm a huge homer.

If Nicks can stay Healthy I would take him. I would assume these lists are if the player was healthy type assuming. If we are adding the variable of injury, then Kenny P. should be taken out. Ironic, he says his knee is not an issue, and is kept out of OTA because of it. Eagles need to stop signing guys who were hurt from our team and expecting results. Steve Smith was a flop for him, and I highly doubt KP can be due to the degenerative knee condition.

I am curious, even though this rookie is unproven, but I want to see Moore for us do at DE. He is supposed to rotate in and be that stand up rusher. So if he can be productive, he would be a specialist for us. But I think BG is a good fit for now.

Also, if we are going injury again, take Snee out. He has been a china doll last 2 seasons, and that hasn't allowed him to play up to his pro bowl level. He got in based on reputation but his time is about to come to an end in the next 1-2 years.

Safties was a tough one for me. I really don't like any in our division. I am going to take a wait and see approach for Will Hill and Steve Brown. If Brown can play better with keeping his momentum changing plays, then we have a clear cut leader. However, we run Fewell's scheme, so I don't expect anyone at LB, CB, or safety to be good. Webster has a chance if he can show last season was out of the norm.

I would've thought so until we started putting these together and I can't help but loving the NFC East. Eli with a quality OL and two explosive RBs to go with that wonderful set of WRs and Witten would be really awesome on offense. Defensively the East has pass rushers, some wonderfully athletic LBs and some good young corners.

Offensively the North is every bit as good as the east, but on D, I don't the north is that strong as back 7 is kind of an issue for every team in the division.

Yeah, don't know how I forgot about him, especially with him also being the best foil to Shady as the #1 back. Just really excited to see what Wilson does next year and I love me some Murray when he's healthy.

BTW I think the AFC North probably wins. They have a really strong secondary, awesome DL and good linebackers for a 3-4, only issue is their unspectacular pass rush, but the offense will be brutal in the run game while giving Flacco AJ Green and co to chuck it up to.

The AFC east is rough man. But we would win a **** load with Tom Brady?? So....Championship.
