Mo was a much better technician and more of a shut down corner. I honestly thought that Mo played better his last year at LSU than Peterson did....however he just didn't have the athleticism that PP has.

Gilbert takes a lot of risks, but is one of the best playmakers in the whole draft as far as take aways, and the return game. His athleticism is scary and his test results back it up.

Tough to say who would go first, but I think people would lean towards Claiborne.

I know hindsight is 20/20 and I don't think anyone seen the troubles coming to Claiborne that he is enduring with the Cowboys. I thought very highly of his versatile play as a DB prospect with above average KR/PR ability.

I really like the comparison between the two guys and think this would be even better if Claiborne turns it around before it's too late.

Sat back and realized today that both teams who drafted each player made a jump to select them.

2012 Dallas traded #14 & #45 to St. Louis for #6
2014 Cleveland traded #9 & #145 to Minnesota for #8

This feat has to speak volumes for both guys.

Gilbert is bigger, faster, and more athletic. Claiborne was drafted high solely because of his skill, and so far has proven the legitimacy of the combine.

So to say thisyou do not value skill

I'll take skill any given day over athleticism. Hardwork(skill) beats talent(athleticism) when talent(athleticism) does not work hard.

I like Gilbert a lot more now that he will be a number 2 CB and teams will try to force it over him to avoid Haden.

Ok so this post has confused me.

Are you saying as prospects the top 4 CBs to come out in the last 6 or 7 years is Revis, Haden, Sherman and Dennard?

If so, why was Sherman a 5th round pick?

Also, I'm pretty sure so many people stated that Patrick Peterson was basically the ultimate CB prospect.

Oh, and the fact that Revis wasn't even the clear cut best CB prospect in his class and many people had Leon Hall over him.

Or, if it is as players in the NFL then I don't understand why Haden is there. Very good player but not in the same conversation as the other two

Claiborne was a much better prospect than Gilbert. There wouldn't have been any debate who the best corner in the class was if Claiborne came out in 2014 rather than 2014; with Gilbert, you had people wondering if Dennard, Fuller, Roby, or Verrett were better. You'd have to take a completely revisionist view of the draft to figure Gilbert was the better prospect.

Leon Hall was a damn good prospect. Especially after he blazed the combine. Timed speed was an unknown until he went sub 4.4.

Yeah I loved Hall that year too and if not for injuries I think he could well be discussed in a similar class to the top guys.

Claiborne pretty easily.

He needs to stay healthy.

I wasn't a big fan of Claiborne coming out after I saw Stedman Bailey out quick him and out physical him in their match up. I thought he was slower and less physical than you'd want in a top 5 CB. I had him in the overrated list.

I'm not a big fan of Gilbert either. Had him as the #4 CB in this class and more like a top 20 guy than top 10. He's too finesse for me. He plays like Deangelo Hall. But it's clear he's at a different speed than everyone else and is a ball hawk. I'm not real confident about either long term but I'd would rank Gilbert over Mo as a prospect.
