Team needs
Hi, some friends and I (on patsfans.com) are doing a 4th round mock and I selected the Ravens. What are their needs? OT, OLB, WR?
Thanks...

Well the Tackle position is definitely a need, possibly OLB or even an ILB, maybe a CB, definitely a S, DL is always good option.

WR is not much of a need but these are some postions we should address in the draft (imo) -
OT- With Pashos gone and J.O. considering retirment we need some1 to compliment Adam Terry and solidify our o-line.- Joe Stayley, Tony Ugoh, Aaron Sears
DE- Trevor Pryce is getting up there in age and we need some young talent to eventually replace him. - Ray McDonald, Quentin Moses, Tim Crowder, Charles Johnson
OG- With Chris Chester being the future replacment for Mike Flynn we need som1 alongside Jason Brown. Keydrick Vincent is average and we can do a little bit better than him. - Justin Blalock, Ben Grubbs Josh Beekman
OLB/DE- A.D. is gone, Jarret Johnson has not proven himself to be a full time starter, and Dan Cody is injury prone. I still think either one of them can replace A.D. but it doesn't hurt to bring in another guy. - Anthony Spencer, Jarvis Moss, Lamarr Woodley,
DB- We have 2 great safeties in Dawan Landry and Ed Reed but outside of Gerome Sapp no depth behind them. At CB we have alot of young talent and I would give it another year before drafting another CB.- late round S- John Wendling, and Josh Gattis

Ravens are on the clock on my interactive mock.
Joe Staley is taken. I was considering selecting Justin Blalock and wait in 2nd round to pick a DE (there are some depth at this position on the draft). Are you ok with this?

No trades allowed. I'm stucked at 29.
Yeah, funny Pats pick. A value pick. Of course, most of people are laughing at this selection.

Ok Kalil, Moss, maybe Blalock. I love Charles Johnson and Tank Tyler but that's not great value. Ben Grubbs is a possibility, as is Aaron Ross. Do what you wish.

And Ugoh is another possibilty, but I personally would be very unhappy if we took him in the 1st.
I'd go with(no order):
1. Moss - perfect athlete for our system. Downside is we signed Johnson to a 6 year deal, but it's possible that he could move inside in a year or two.
2. Kalil - great prospect on the line who's incredibly smart. Chris Chester is supposed to be our guy at C, supposedly he's looked great there although I only know about him at guard.
3. Grubbs - allows Chester to C. Beastly athlete on the line.
4. Blalock - road grader who can immediately challenge for RG or take RT.
5. Charles Johnson - Pryce protege
6. Tank Tyler - NT is a need for the future with Gregg's age
7. Jon Beason - could replace Lewis eventually

Interesting pick. He has nice value at # 29. Still could pick an OT in round 2 and a DE + S in round 4.
In the end, I will stick to Blalock. Thanks for the info guys.

no no no to justin blalock. i can't believe people are giving him to us. he wont be the pick. he's bad value and he's overrated. terrible pick at 29.
jon beason would be my ideal pick for us at that point, go with him. i love the guy, and he can play inside our outside. his athletic ability will be great for rex ryan and our defense. 2nd option: Tank Tyler. charles johnson is also a good pick.
just say no to blalock. he is becoming the consensus pick for non raven fans that really don't know about our needs and draft strategies.

He's already been picked. Although I think it's bad value in the 1st, I don't see him as being overhyped. He's incredibly solid and inexperienced. He was a dominant tackle in college. Moving him inside just play more to his strengths. Trust me, I've seen a lot of Texas games, and you never really seem to hear his name called, which for a lineman is great. When it is, it's because he's doing a great job.

I'm not, as well as others I'm sure, about the Blalock pick but I'm quite content with the Johnson selection.

I'd say Myles or Williams given their talent.

I enjoy the thought of Troy Smith in the 4th rd, however I do also enjoy the thought of Chris Henry being here for Willis insurance.
