Yeah the roster in 2007 compared to 2011 were entirely different. We only had 11 or so common players btw both SB winning teams.

Which is why you can't really compare them at all.

Not really. The Packers from 2007-2012 (sandwiching the Superbowl team in the middle) were 66-30. The Steelers from 2004-2011 (a more apt comparison because they won two Superbowls) were 89-39. Again, this is a franchise that was consistently a very good to great year after year.

The Giants? The best 6 year run you can put together for them is 59-37. The best 8 year run is 77-53. Both franchises have been consistently better than the Giants.

The Saints? 62-34 from 2006-2011

The Ravens? 55-27 under John Harbaugh (2008-2012)

Of all of the Superbowl franchises in the last ten years, the Giants have undoubtedly been the worst. And they won two!

Something really weird happens most games with Eli. He looks average to below average for the first three quarters and then in the 4th quarter he pours it on. The regular season is just his first 3 quarters.

So Eli Manning is basically Tim Tebow is what your saying, right?

My post was mainly a joke. But your comparison doesn't make any sense.

This thread has become a joke. But the original point that this 0-3 start somehow devalues our 2 Super Bowls runs was pretty funny to begin with.

Pretty sure my comparison makes perfect sense. you said Eli looks below average for three quarters and then pours it on in the 4th. I'm pretty sure that is exactly what Tebow did in 2011.

As far as the Giants go, and this is the last I'll speak on it, as disappointed I am about the 0-3 start, it doesn't really bother me.

It should, but it doesn't. I just feel like it's time for a change. We need some change. Our offense is so stale. Our schemes are so dated. Our players are complacent and old. It's just time for a change.

Part of me enjoyed drafting Nassib bc I sort of miss evaluating a developing qb. There's a different element of excitement that comes with a rebuilding team. When your team has the success we had, it's not as fun as a fan in the sense that you view every season as SB or bust, and unless you win the SB the season is a failure.

That level of expectation kind of weighs on you as a fan, and it stops being fun after awhile.

In an odd way, I'm looking forward to rebuilding and going through that process again.

Eh, some people thrive when the pressure's highest, and the giants as a team have had that quality for quite a while under Eli's guidance, just looking at regular seasons completely ignores that dynamic that was such a big part of the success we've had.

Maybe looking at how these teams do with their season on the line could provide some actually useful insight.

No, the fact that this Jacksonville team is on pace to shatter the records for most punts, worst point differential, and will flirt with the record for fewest yards per play and he would be an improvement at QB.

It seems that the 0-16 Lions team actually had a little more talent than the Jaguars do now. At QB, I would say that Joey Harrington and Blaine Gabbert were equally brutal. The backup Chad Henne is actually a little better than Gabbert, but not by much.

Most of the recent SB winning teams have not had the bye week. In a league that has so much parity and has become so dependent on momentum, is the bye week something that helps you or hurts you?

I honestly have no answer or opinion on that. I don't know. I can see the arguments for both sides and I don't know which way I would lean towards.
You always want to have home field advantage and a bye week if it's an option though. Why wouldn't you?

On the flip side, has there ever been a better team over a series of years to never win a championship than the Cleveland Indians from 1995-2001? 5 out of 6 division titles and three seasons with 95+ wins. I haz a sad now....

Harrington could play the piano though, so advantage Gabbert.
