I have a feeling 2-5 will come down to the conference championships. Ohio State and Stanford could well be playing 2 top 15 teams by then, and FSU will be playing...Duke? Miami losing really hurts their SOS. And Baylor is gonna need losses everywhere to get in the national championship, I believe.

FSU's SOS tops Ohio State's SOS, there is no way they pass them without a loss.

The other thing is Florida State has been a lot more impressive than Ohio State. Florida State has never gone into the half without the lead and I can't think of a game where they came close to losing. Ohio State had a difficult time beating Wisconsin and Iowa at home, and Northwestern on the road. FSU's wins are a lot more impressive than Ohio State's too, two top ten teams, one of them on the road. A win over Va Tech in the ACC championship game to stay undefeated would be enough to put them in the NCG (I think Duke loses one of it's next three games and Va Tech finishes with a better conference record then them).

Ohio State will be #3 easily this week.

Going forward, if Baylor can rack up a few more big wins, that could change.

for the sake of SOS, Baylor should hope that Texas doesn't lose before their meeting.

Baylor has a great chance to jump Ohio State. They've got back to back games against ranked teams. Unfortunately Texas Tech appears to be free falling but they are still a two loss team. At Oklahoma State is never an easy game, and they're a one loss team. And then they conclude the season with a possible Big 12 championship on the line against Texas.

Meanwhile Ohio State plays two teams that probably won't become bowl eligible and a Michigan team that's spiraling out of control.

I could see Baylor easily staying ahead of Ohio State.

This thread has gone full ******.

Osu would not be passed by Baylor given equal records. Just stop.

Also, sagarin's unfair equations are still generating poo. In one of his polls (not official) he has Wisconsin ahead of osu. Seriously, the guy needs to be out out to pasture.

No Baylor could definitely pass Ohio State by the end of the year. You're burying your head in the homer sand if you don't think so.

Agree. I don't see Baylor jumping Stanford either, assuming Stanford beats Notre Dame and UCLA.

I'm not sure what he was talking about, but Ohio State is still ahead of Baylor in the coaches and the harris polls.

The other thing that I think is going to become a factor is both team's performance against Buffalo. Ohio State struggled to beat them at home and didn't put them away until late in the third quarter. Baylor trounced them at home 70-13.

Baylor is in the middle of a three game streak against ranked opponents, Ohio Stated is in the middle of a three game streak against team's that aren't bowl eligible or might not become bowl eligible. How Baylor could win it's next two games and not jump Ohio State is beyond me.

It's possible but Wisconsin and MSU are better than any team Baylor has or will have played.

Oklahoma State being ranked above both of those teams says otherwise.

I don't get the fascination with Stanford all of a sudden. They beat the number two team in the nation, but they also lost to a Utah team that has a losing record and one conference win. They're not even bowl eligible yet and need to win two of their last three to become bowl eligible. I wouldn't have them jump Ohio State or Baylor because of one win. If you're going to jump an undefeated team as a one win team your one loss should at least be a good one.

I can't help that the people that rank teams are idiots. I would take both teams ahead of all but Baylor in the big 12 this year.

When they beat ASU, Wash., Oregon st and UCLA they were all ranked. they still have to play SC, Notre Dame and UCLA (most likely). Somehow I don't see Baylor any where near that strength of schedule.

Stanford played a really nice schedule of games.

I no longer really care that much about the rankings. I just want the Rose Bowl now. 4 more games.

Am I stupid and am missing something? Stanford won't go to the NC without some crazy stuff happening so if they win out they go to the rose bowl, right?

I don't think that where a team was ranked when you played them effects the ranking, the computers calculate the rankings based off who a team has played and what your past opponents ranking and record is when the calculation occurs. Washington went on to lose three in a row and might lose to UCLA, that hurts Stanford's win against them. Same for their win against Oregon State who lost to USC yesterday. Saying a team beat a team that at a time was ranked doesn't really bolster an argument for that team.

You're probably right. I just have a ton more respect for the PAC-12 than I do the Big-12.

It's probable. Michigan State is tough and has the top rated defense, and Wisconsin is a better all around team. Oklahoma State is rated higher but probably not quite as good.

And I wish people would shut up about Stanford jumping an undeafeted Big XII or B1G team. That's ridiculous. They lost to Utah, goodbye, have a nice season, enjoy looking up at the undefeated BCS teams.
